Uni and the Hunt for the Lost Horn

Uni and the Hunt for the Lost Horn

Dungeons & Dragons 5e | One-Shot

About the adventure

Uni the unicorn is in trouble. The evil spellcaster Kelek has stolen Uni's horn to power a fell ritual. If the characters don't stop Kelek, Uni's horn will be destroyed forever in Kelek's quest for power. Uni and the Hunt for the Lost Horn is part of a yearlong celebration of Dungeons & Dragons and its 50th anniversary. The adventure presented herein involves characters from the beloved 1980s Dungeons & Dragons animated series. This adventure is designed for four to six level 4 characters. Accompanying the adventure are character sheets for six of the animated series' protagonists: Bobby, Diana, Eric, Hank, Presto, and Sheila, all presented in young adulthood. The seventh character sheet presents Niko, a Cleric from a different set of adventurers who recently tumbled into the D&D multiverse. Each player can choose one of these characters or provide a character of their own.

Rule of Cool (RoC)

“Rule of Cool” emphasizes creative story beats over sticking to a system’s rules as written. Players have the ability to push the limits of the rules or even break core rule mechanics at times if the Game Master thinks it is interesting, fun, or cool enough.

Lets just say in a veteran GM and player and Ken did not disappoint. Ken puts a lot of time and effort in to his games and also the networking behind it. He was GM for a Monster of the Week game and right from the start added some visual aid and nice links between the characters to build a back story without getting bogged down into it. What stands out his his enthusiasm and people/listening skills. I could tell he was enjoying the game as much as the players and was moving and moulding with the story rather that putting up barriers or putting us up against creatures beyond our power. The roles didn't go great but that's not down to ken, but he rolled with it well(excuse the pun). If you have clicked on Ken's GM profile, then what are you waiting for message him and find out if you can involved with his games.

New review

Ken was a great GM for a one-shot that was setup on foundry and had a bunch of us new to the vtt. His setup is very polished, his knowledge of the game is good, and he was upfront about what his game was and was not. Both me and a friend joined together and all in all we had a fun time.

Ken is a very inclusive, relaxed and fun GM to play with! Good knowledge of the rules and a good VTT setup. Would join another game at his table anytime!

Had a lot of fun running through the Night at the Museum one-shot. Ken was very helpful in figuring out how to use the Foundry VTT (I usually play on Roll20, so there was a bit of a learning curve for me). He definitely made use of the Rule of Cool, which is much appreciated and was very flexible as we were figuring out some of the differences at higher levels with the 2024 5E rules.

What I provide

GM Style Relaxed Roleplay: I’ll aim to bring NPCs to life with lighthearted character voices and playful personalities, keeping interactions fun and welcoming for players of all experience levels. Atmospheric Music and Sounds: Festive music and gentle ambient sounds will enhance the game’s cozy, holiday atmosphere. Think crackling fires, jingling bells, and cheerful tunes to set the mood. Casual Challenges: While there will still be puzzles, exploration, and combat, the stakes are lower, and the focus is on shared fun rather than intense tactics. Creative solutions and teamwork will shine here. Rule of Fun: I’m flexible with the rules to keep things lighthearted and entertaining. If your idea adds to the holiday cheer or makes for a memorable moment, chances are I’ll say yes! Expectations for Players Relax and Have Fun: This is a laid-back holiday game meant to spark joy and create memorable moments. Feel free to play a quirky character, make bold choices, and embrace the festive silliness. Inclusive and Collaborative Play: Teamwork is still important, but the emphasis is on having fun together rather than strict strategy. Bring a cooperative spirit and a sense of humor to the table. Engagement at Your Level: Whether you love diving deep into roleplay or just want to roll some dice and laugh, there’s room for all play styles. Just bring your holiday cheer and enjoy the adventure. Post-Game Check-In: After the session, we’ll take a few minutes to share highlights and laughs, wrapping things up with positive vibes for everyone.

Gameplay details

Gameplay Safety Tools: X, N, & O Cards During gameplay, X, N, and O Cards will be used for player comfort: X-Card: Stops the game immediately if a topic becomes uncomfortable. Players can signal this verbally, show it on video, or type an "X" in chat. N-Card: Indicates nearing discomfort, prompting a scene pivot or slowdown. An "N" typed in chat or shown on video works. O-Card: Indicates that players are good to continue or escalate intensity, especially useful in combat or suspenseful moments. To ensure privacy, players can also message these signals directly to me. Debriefing Following each session, I’ll lead a debrief to discuss highlights, challenges, and any points that might have felt intense or uncomfortable. This debriefing will help gauge the group’s comfort, gather feedback, and adjust future sessions to enhance everyone’s experience.
