About the adventure
The holy city of Elturel has disappeared from the Forgotten Realms and descended into Avernus, the first layer of the Nine Hells. This event came about as the result of an infernal bargain between the archdevil Zariel, who rules Avernus, and the treacherous High Overseer of Elturel, Thavius Kreeg. Zariel is capturing cities and using their citizens as fodder in the ongoing conflict between demons and devils known as the Blood War. Next on Zariel’s list of cities is Elturel’s neighbor, Baldur’s Gate. The characters can be the heroes who descend into Avernus, save Elturel from certain destruction, and prevent a similar fate from befalling Baldur’s Gate. I have been playing 5e since 2015-2016 and have garnered a ton of DM experience through running Adventurers League (WotC organized play) at a local shop as well as the big conventions in Phoenix. My style tends to lead to comedy, humor and the "rule of cool" instead of dark, gritty, and RAW. Devon really enjoys creativity, both personal and, more importantly, from the players, yet in a measured way. The encounters are run to make the result rewarding for the players overcoming what it put in front of them - rules are guidelines but still meant to encourage creativity and difficulty. No forcing the action either, the party gets to work out the right level of role-playing for them and are encouraged to find creative ways to express themselves through their abilities without necessarily impact the actual encounters they may later face.
Mallow is a fantastic DM, very patient and welcoming especially to new players like I was. He is always open to make an idea work, actively encourages shenanigans and creativity, and allows everyone to have a chance to shine. The games never feel boring because he has enough experience to keep the players on their toes. This is my second campaign with Mallow an highly recommend you signing in for one of his games!
I have been in Mallow's campaign for 5 sessions and I really enjoy the flow of his games. He is quick witted and fun DM that allows for a great paced game with lots of RP moments and great combat. I am new to table top games and he has been really helpful in explaining the rules in a way that makes sense. He often gives great feed about what I can do in ways that are both tactical or fits for my character. I definitely recommend his games.
I have the pleasure of playing two games with Mallow, one extremely role play heavy and one with more of a traditional mix of combat, exploration, and RP. He shines in both formats, and it only took one or two sessions to realize that I hope I get to keep playing with him for a long, long time. One thing that I almost immeidately noticed is that many of his players are playing in more than one of his games, which was a clue to me that he must be doing something right. Mallow is a very good overall DM, and I think he specifically shines in making sure that every member of the group gets a chance to have their moment in the spotlight. He's great at pacing the game, keeping things moving while making sure that we pick up everything we need. And I have especially admired how he handles players that are newer, or newer to playing certain kinds of characters - if you're in that boat, you'll learn a lot, and I think you'll enjoy the process. For me, the best aspect about his DM'ing is that I think he's exceptional at working with players' individual characters and integrating them into the campaign, while still making sure that the overall plot keeps going. As a player, it can sometimes be easy to feel like your character is just a bunch of numbers and mouse clicks in D&D Beyond with a randomly generated name. In Mallow's games, if you want to create a character you love, I think you can be sure that your effort won't go to waste.
Mallow is AWESOME! As a relatively new player, he's always been extremely welcoming and patient. He provides a lot of knowledge and makes each player feel valued throughout each session. Overall, I highly recommend this DM to anyone looking for a positive and welcoming experience.
I have had the pleasure of taking part in a couple campaigns over a few sessions and I can say without a doubt one of the best GMs on this platform(have tried a few others), if not the best. He is great with newcomers as with seasoned veterans. He allows us to take control of the session but when it is time to move things along he does it in a great way. If you're new to D&D or just starting out I highly recommend Mallow, you will not be disappointed. The truth is that I enjoy his GMing so much that I am taking part in 3 different campaigns and even having my wife join me(She is brand new to D&D) because I know that he can cater to my needs and help he getting going as well. Cannot recommend more!!!

Creating your character
Point buy or standard array - Characters start at level 1 - Characters can be created before session 0 or during session 0. We will be using DnD beyond for all character creation, Roll20 for maps and tokens, and discord for voice. We will be using the 2024 ruleset.
