About the adventure
The crew of the free trader, Aurora Dawn, answers a distress call from the exploited mine-world, Planet Cairn. Can they help the people of Cairn and their allies throw off their oppressors and discover the secrets of the coveted Emeralds of Eternity? This custom adventure was created using Stars Without Number's randomized adventure creation tools. These tools don't create "random content" but rather lead GM's in unexpected directions.

About me
Hi gamer, call me Tim! I've been running and playing games since 1981, at home, online, and at conventions. I enjoy bringing a world to life, and get a thrill when a player pull their jacket back on when their character is cold. My players say, they love to hate my villains. I enjoy running monsters that act according to their motivations and intellect. Goading the ogre into putting themselves in danger might be easy, but take more care when dealing with dragons! I've got a good head for math, and can play the game “in 3-D” when the players wish. My NPC's have distinct voices, even if their accents sometimes wobble a bit. My players are often convinced they're headed for a TPK before they pull it out at the last minute. I usually run a serious campaign with some comic relief, but I'll happily run gritty combat-as-war campaign or a goofy romp.

Creating your character
Play will begin at level 1, and the party will level up to 2 halfway through the one shot. Players should plan on either choosing from the available pre-generated characters, or generating a character ahead of the game session. I can help with character creation. For players who want to create their own characters, you'll need create the character (probably with the SWN Freebooter web app) and then copy/paste add your character to the Roll20.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Ensure you have a working webcam and microphone that work with Discord. Ensure you can log into Roll20.net (creating an account if you don't have one). It will work best if you can log into Discord on your computer, rather than your phone, as occasional screen sharing can help explain things and solve issues quickly. The Stars Without Number free rules are extensive and available for download at Drive Through RPG. Please download these. It's not a requirement to read through them, as I'll guide the party through the mechanics. https://www.drivethrurpg.com/en/product/230009/stars-without-number-revised-edition-free-version
What Tim brings to the table
This is a custom adventure of my creation created using the Stars Without Number tools. Pre-generated characters are available but players can create their own. Players can use the SWN Freebooter tool to ease character creation, and add their characters to SWN character sheets in Roll20. https://www.swnfreebooter.net We will use Roll20 for the VTT and Discord for voice and text chat. Icons by 'the old "grunt" cauldron' are available, and I can make custom icons for players who want that. My Roll20 VTT adventure includes "handouts" for common game mechanics which players can refer to.

How Tim creates a safe table
This will be a PG-rated Space Opera style one shot where we'll avoid problematic content. Roll20's XNO cards will be available in case they should be needed. Expect gun fights, laser battles, and angry, exploited workers.
