About the adventure

This is the classic game module Lost Mines of Phandelver. It's a great introductory game for those just starting out in D&D, but it also has everything a seasoned player would want in an adventure! Join us as we explore Phandalin and the surrounding area, beginning with a simple job escorting a wagon from Neverwinter to the frontier town of Phandalin.

About me

Our games are personalized and backstory driven, with the characters written right into the main plotline of the story. This is collaborative storytelling at its heart, and as a GM there is nothing better than seeing the PCs take a concept and run with it on their own. What you'll get from me is over forty years of experience, a detailed world fleshed out with custom maps and relatable NPCs, and an over arching plotline that will take your character's wants and needs fully into account. The world will move around you as you adventure, bringing side quests and tangential stories right along with it.

Character creation

Creating your character

We will create characters during session 0! This game is for 4-5 first level characters.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

A roll20 account is necessary as it is the VTT we use. We use Discord for voice and video chat, so a headset/speakers and a mic will be required. I like to use video, personally, but a camera is not necessary to play in this game.

What Harlen brings to the table

We will be playing on roll20, and using Discord voice and video chat. I really love running this module, and am looking forward to seeing how the players take it and make it their own. I have run it a few times, now, and it has been different every time! I have a general rule of saying "yes" as often as possible in game, being a big proponent of chaos in all of my affairs, and I highly encourage role playing within the setting. Phandalin is fleshed out pretty well, and there is a lot to do in town if only you look for opportunities! Don't be afraid to explore! This game is a great jumping off point for beginners looking to get into the game. All player levels are welcome; in my experience, the more seasoned gamers have no qualms about helping out newbies, so feel free to jump right on in! There will be a session 0 to create characters and go over safety and the setting, as well, where questions can be addressed and the tone will be set. Generally, the games I run wind up being somewhat comical, incorporating plenty of silly moments and lighthearted laughter into the overarching storyline.

Homebrew rules

I have some homebrew rules around Critical Hit damage, and drinking potions is a bonus action.

How Harlen creates a safe table

If, at any time, something makes you uncomfortable, just DM me and it will stop. I do not need a reason; you don't need to explain yourself. I will just make it stop.
