Dungeons & Dragons 5e | Campaign

About the adventure

"The Infinite Staircase spirals endlessly in a vast, dreamlike expanse, twisting upward and downward to countless doors linked to every world and plane of existence. It is the route to the heart's desire, an extradimensional staircase that leads to all places. Beyond its myriad portals lie enchanting Feywild gardens, sunken cities ruled by ancient evils, and untold adventures. Legends state that by diligently searching the staircase's landings, a wistful traveler can find the door to the destination of their dreams...." So begins a tale of strangers in a strange place. Each of you have awoken to find yourselves on the Staircase with no memory of how you arrived, pulled here from your individual worlds by some unknown force to perform some unknown task. You band together to traverse the Staircase, hoping each new door you open will be the one that leads you home. This campaign uses the "Quests from the Infinite Staircase" module and is designed for 3-6 players to take their 1st-level characters as far as 13th-level, possibly further with enough interest.

Game style

Rule of Cool (RoC)

“Rule of Cool” emphasizes creative story beats over sticking to a system’s rules as written. Players have the ability to push the limits of the rules or even break core rule mechanics at times if the Game Master thinks it is interesting, fun, or cool enough.

Roleplay Heavy

“Roleplay Heavy” games place the focus on the story, the characters, and the world they live within, and tend to lean hard into the various roleplaying elements of the game. These games will frequently find the party talking with NPCs, exploring the personal elements of their backstories, or even having emotional moments around the camp fire.

How to prepare

Players will need access to both Discord and D&D Beyond/Maps, as well as a mic. Webcams will not be required in this campaign.

What I provide

I'll be using a combination of Discord and D&D Beyond/Maps to run this campaign. I will be doing character voices as well as providing ambient music/sound effects. I will also be using the updated 2024 ruleset, though you are still welcome to use legacy content in building your characters. Battle maps will be used, but the Rule of Cool will be embraced so long as you can offer up a compelling argument as to why it should in a particular instance.

Gameplay details

A Lines and Veils sheet will be made available; players will be allowed to fill it in anonymously. Session 0 will be spent giving an overview of the game and assisting with character creation.
