🌋Sword Coast Cataclysm ⚡ 2024 rules 🌊Character Driven Campaign
Dungeons & Dragons 5e | Campaign
About the adventure
Welcome! This campaign is planned to be a character driven campaign mostly focused in the Sword Coast, starting in the Neverwinter area but occupying most of the area from Icewind Dale in the North to the Anauroch Desert in the East all the way to Amn to the South. We'll be starting at level 3 in a small festival to celebrate Greengrass, the first day of Spring, where your characters are randomly assigned as a team in a fun activity around the town of Longsaddle. By the end of this festival all will change, and the lives of many in the Sword Coast will be thrown upside down. To avoid spoiling it let's just say that we'll be dealing with plenty of elements. From this point onwards nothing will be set in stone, what the character prioritize will be what we end up doing, be it help those endangered by the current events, use the opportunity for some self gain, or perhaps find family members that could be in trouble. As a character driven campaign the ending is also uncertain and it will be up to all of us as a group to find that fitting ending. I have enough material and ideas to make this anywhere between a campaign that goes from 3-5 as from a 3-20.

How to prepare
Character concepts and messaging the DM so we can work on backstories. As usual you will need a Roll20 account with a working browser, Discord account, and a working microphone.
What I provide
We will be running the game in Roll20 with custom maps either from modules, DMsGuild, Free assets or made in Dungeon Alchemist. All the Roll20 D&D 2024 content has been bought already so you can make your characters there. The monsters will also be there at the ready We will be running with Roll20 music, Discord for Voice and Webcams being opt in for everyone to be decided if we even want to use them on session 0
Gameplay details
We will be having a session 0 and session 1 free of charge. During session 0 we will be going through character creation and talking about the general story points we're hoping to hit throughout and make storylines between the characters. In session 1 I already want everything to be ready to play properly and ready to go for a full session. I also want to hear directly from each player if there's any specific trigger they have that I should be aware of so I can avoid using. I would say that the biggest "default" trigger that that this campaign will have will be "Environmental disasters" which will bring death, refuges, poverty, etc. Examples: Replacing spiders with a different beast, avoiding specific descriptions of certain conditions like seizures, or just avoiding themes like abuse entirely. By default I usually have very little mention of anything that is sexual in nature unless specifically running things like Succubi/Inccubi and if that is against what the group wishes I will simply not include them. I also avoid having any type of torture (in roleplay) in my games because not only is it somewhat uncomfortable it usually serves no purpose either way.

How will character creation work
We will be starting at level 3 just to get everyone rolling with their characters along with subclasses and starting gear that would be fitting for what they intend to play. If we end up getting a lot of new players we'll start at 1 instead an make a quick transition to 3 in just a couple of sessions as a tutorial. The only content that will be allowed will be pure 2024 ruleset, with no backwards compatibility.
