Fabula Ultima is a game system that is driven by the players and guided by the GM. Instead of having a world fully planned out and a story already set, the players help craft locations, characters, threats, and mysteries to the world. There is even a system for players to inject things into the world post creation. If you are interested to know more, please feel free to message me. The system is designed based off of turn based JRPG's. It takes inspiration from games like Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, Xenogears and the like. It also lends itself very much to anime style adventures and characters.

I am very much enjoying Kevin as a GM (3 games so far; I waited to post a review until I knew my positive first impression would last). He is extremely well organized with useful player-oriented resources on Roll20 and Discord, arranged in a way to make them usable even by those lacking full fluency with those platforms, enough for full fun but curated so there is not a paralyzing degree of excess choice. He communicates promptly regarding game parameters and questions, providing full-yet-succinct targeted information, the info you need when you need it. He is also laid-back in demeanor, following and sometimes building on the humor of the party (we have several who like goofy role-play) yet adeptly keeps the story moving forward without stepping on anyone's reasonable fun. I haven't laughed so much in months as I did in this campaign's 1st 3 games, which is just what I was looking for. Kevin also tells an entertaining creative story in a self-crafted world, does voices, knows rules, helps beginners if needed etc., but I assume all paid GMs can do those things so it's really his welcoming demeanor and focus on player experience that makes me want to post this review and encourage others to experience his games if you're lucky enough to find an open spot!
Kevin is a super professional Dungeon Master. He is running a campaign using Hero Kids for my son and I. I think he learned this game just for us, which shows his dedication to the craft. He also helped us set up Roll20 and Hero Forge, which helps to make the role-playing more immersive. He has great voices for the NPCs that my son and I thoroughly enjoy, and he’s also very quick-witted to respond to the strange things my son has to say. Kevin is very accommodating and is very patient with my son. I would highly recommend Kevin for any of your role-playing adventures!
He came prepared with pre-generated characters and still allowed you to build your own if you desired it. He was able to go with the flow well even with odd characters and progress the storyline. He is definitely a great storyteller and able to fold in everyone to the game to give a unique experience regardless of experience level. Session 0 was used to sets boundaries or limits that wouldn't be crossed so all would be comfortable.

How to prepare
Players will need Foundry Player Account: Free discord account: Free Microphone (or ability to produce speech into a discord voice chat channel): Mandatory Camera: Optional We will be using discord to communicate both while playing and in the time between games. Feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions comments or concerns regarding this. It is highly recommended to have some way to create personalized character art for your characters. It will help when combat happens and will just add to the overall feel of the game.
What I provide
As a GM, I pride myself on my ability to adapt and roll with the punches. I believe heavily in rule 0: The GM has the final call. I do my best to stay consistent with rulings, but I am not perfect. I also believe heavily in the fact that this is a game and sometimes you want to do awesome s**t and I won't let a rule get in your way of doing it. It might require additional rolls that are not in the rule book, but it will definitely be doable. Combat will be funky. I love homebrew and love giving my players challenges that are suited to the skill sets of the characters and giving each character the chance to shine. I DO NOT allow and type of disrespect or disruptive behaviors go. If a player brings something to my attention that is an issue I will address it accordingly even if it is about me. You are blessing me, by paying me to do something I love, I might as well make the effort to give you the best possible experience for you. So if the entire group vibe is to goof off and not stay on story great! However if most of the group is wanted to stick on story, and there is one player making it difficult to do that, I will address it. It is all subjective to you, the players. Last but not least, LETS HAVE FUN!!! Isn't that what these games are all about?

During session 0 we will discuss anything that we may or may not want to include in the game from all players. And to that end if there is any player who does not feel comfortable letting the group know what the lines are they are free to, and even encouraged to send me a message directly so I know and can add it to the list myself.

How will character creation work
Character Creation will begin during session 0. We will be discussing character creation and group dynamics as well as where the group wishes to begin their story. There will be a link in the game to all the current active books as well as the playtest materials that are officially released. We will have access to the Core Rule Book, High Fantasy Atlas, and Techno Fantasy Atlas. Also while the starting continent is fleshed out some, the rest of the world map is not. We will discuss locations and world building together during session 0. The general ID for session 0, will be this: Work together to establish some key points to the world and regions to the world that your players can play through and explore. Threats will be established, group dynamics will be established, and characters will be established. If everything happens quickly enough we can get to some actual gameplay, however most times world creation and character creation takes up most of the time during the session 0.
