About the adventure

Phandelver is a great starting point for new Dungeons & Dragons players! The adventure begins in the small frontier town of Phandalin, located in the rugged wilderness of the Sword Coast. You’ll play as a group of adventurers hired to escort supplies to the town, but things quickly take a turn as you uncover mysteries, battle dangerous foes, and explore ancient ruins. The story revolves around Wave Echo Cave, a long-lost mine said to hold powerful magic and treasure. Along the way, you’ll face bandits, goblins, and other threats while meeting quirky locals who may need your help—or have secrets of their own. It’s an exciting introduction to D&D, full of opportunities for exploration, combat, and role-playing. Perfect for learning the game and discovering what makes D&D so fun!

About me

I would be a great online DM for Dungeons & Dragons because I’m passionate about storytelling and creating immersive worlds. My experience with narrative-driven campaigns in Warhammer 40k has given me a strong foundation for crafting engaging plots and dynamic encounters. With my background in statistics, I’m skilled at balancing mechanics and managing the flow of gameplay. As a server, I’ve honed my interpersonal skills, which help me keep players engaged and entertained. I love gaming, and I’m dedicated to making every session a fun and memorable experience for everyone involved.

Character creation

Creating your character

For new players, I provide premade characters that are easy to understand and designed to fit the campaign. This helps you focus on the fun parts of the game, like exploring the world and role-playing, without getting overwhelmed by the mechanics. For experienced players, I offer the option to create your own character using D&D Beyond. I’ll help ensure your character fits into the setting and aligns with the adventure’s tone. Whether you’re new or a veteran, my goal is to make sure everyone has a character they’re excited to play and that fits seamlessly into the story we’ll tell together.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

As a player, preparing for the game is simple but important! Make sure you have access to the tools we’ll be using, like D&D Beyond and Foundry VTT, and take a little time to familiarize yourself with them if you’re new. Bring a sense of curiosity and a willingness to work as a team—D&D is all about collaboration. If you’re new to D&D, I’ll provide a premade character for you so you can jump right in without worrying about the rules. If you’re experienced, feel free to create your own character, but let me know ahead of time so I can help integrate them into the story. Either way, come ready to explore, have fun, and enjoy the adventure!

What Tallon brings to the table

When I run a D&D game, I bring everything needed to create an immersive and exciting experience. I use tools like D&D Beyond for character management and reference, making it easy for players to stay organized and focused on the story. I also incorporate detailed maps, whether from D&D Beyond or custom-made, to help visualize the world and bring encounters to life. For online games, I use Foundry VTT, which allows for dynamic maps, tokens, and interactive combat to keep the game engaging. I make sure everything is set up ahead of time, from virtual handouts to sound effects, so players can dive right into the action. My goal is to provide a seamless mix of storytelling and technology that enhances gameplay and makes every session memorable.

Safety

How Tallon creates a safe table

When I run a D&D game, I make safety a priority to ensure everyone has a fun and comfortable experience. Before we start, I talk to the group about boundaries and themes that might come up in the game to make sure no one is caught off guard. I use tools like a “session zero” to discuss expectations and lines we won’t cross, and I’m always open to feedback during the campaign. I also incorporate tools like the X-card or a pause system, so players can signal if something feels uncomfortable or needs to change without interrupting the flow too much. My goal is to create a welcoming environment where everyone feels safe to enjoy the story, explore their characters, and have a great time together.
