About the adventure

Whispers of a city in the clouds have passed from traveler to traveler for centuries—a place said to be a paradise untouched by mortal woes. Some call it a myth, others swear it is real, but no one alive today can claim to have seen it. The legends promise untold riches, divine wisdom, and a single wish granted to those who reach its gleaming spires. Yet for every tale of its splendor, there are warnings: a journey fraught with peril, skies teeming with danger, and trials that would test the very soul. When a mysterious stranger offers you a chance to find out the truth, it seems like fate. But nothing is as simple as it seems. The plan starts with a theft—a stolen ship that could pierce the heavens. Along the way, the cursed shield carried by one of your companions grows heavier, its whispers louder, its influence more dangerous. As the ship rises higher, so do the stakes, and with every mile, the promise of paradise becomes harder to distinguish from a clever lie. Is the City in the Clouds real, or is it a cruel illusion born from mortal ambition? What truths will you uncover in the endless skies above? And, more importantly, what will you sacrifice to reach them? In this two-part adventure, your choices will shape the outcome of a daring heist and a harrowing journey into the unknown. The answers you seek are waiting—but only if you’re willing to risk everything to grasp them.

Character creation

Creating your character

Create a Level 2 character using the rules from 5e of Dungeons & Dragons Your character begins with one signature magic item. This item should reflect your character's background, personality, or aspirations. Please submit your character sheet and a brief description of your signature magic item to the DM prior to the start of the game. This allows time to integrate your character into the story and ensure the magic item fits the tone and balance of the adventure.

Safety

How KevTheDM creates a safe table

Creating a safe, comfortable, and enjoyable gaming experience for everyone is a top priority. To ensure that players feel supported both during and after the game, the following safety tools will be actively used: Aftercare At the end of each session, we will dedicate time for an open, supportive discussion about how everyone felt during the game. This is a chance to share any thoughts, decompress, and address any lingering emotions, especially if the game touched on intense or challenging themes. Players will have space to reflect on the session and provide feedback in a low-pressure environment. Bleed Management To avoid any overlap between in-game conflicts and real-life emotions, clear boundaries will be set between character interactions and player relationships. If an in-game event causes tension or discomfort, we’ll take a moment to clarify intentions and ensure everyone is on the same page. Open communication will be encouraged to help separate character actions from personal feelings, ensuring that no one leaves the game upset with another player. Open Door Policy Players will have the freedom to step away from the game at any time for any reason. Whether it’s to take a break, deal with a personal matter, or simply check in with themselves, the Open Door policy ensures that everyone has the autonomy to prioritize their comfort. No explanations will be required, and rejoining the game will be welcomed without judgment or pressure. By implementing these tools, this game will foster an inclusive and respectful atmosphere where creativity and collaboration can thrive.
