Feathers, Fur, and Fire: A Humblewood Adventure [All Ages]

Feathers, Fur, and Fire: A Humblewood Adventure [All Ages]

Dungeons & Dragons 5e | Campaign

About the adventure

Welcome to the Humblewood! Together, we will play through the level 1-5 Adventure in the Wood from the Humblewood source book. Omens of flame are appearing throughout the land, and it is up to you to find their source before it is too late. The Humblewood is a vast forest populated by animal-like humanoids living together in harmony with their environment. Cozy cottages line the roads leading to the great tree city of Alderheart, where the spirit of the largest tree in the Wood permitted the Humblefolk to shape its branches into homes. Together, you will explore how a civilization might live with as little impact on its environment as possible. The ultimate goal? To save this beautiful land from burning to ashes, while protecting its people monsters and bandits. Forge alliances, make friends, and work together to save the forest.

How to prepare

Please have a working microphone, Discord, and Roll20 accounts. Characters will be created during session 0, and pregens are available. This game is open to players of all experience levels, and I am more than happy to teach new players the rules. I would advise that a copy of the Basic Rules be in your possession to consult when needed.

What I provide

Prepare to be immersed in a fun and cozy woodland as you explore Humblewood! This is a module from the Humblewood campaign setting book, but that doesn't mean it won't be your story. Your choices will have a profound impact on the events of the narrative, as my best games have very few rails. The themes of this game are light-hearted and whimsical, with magic and wonder jumping out at you like the illustrations of a picture book. This module has a focus on roleplay, but features a few large combat encounters interspersed with potential random combats based on exploration and chance. Who you befriend and who you antagonize will play a large role in the course of the story, ensuring a unique and personal game experience. We will use safety tools to ensure a comfortable, safe, and inclusive experience. Respect, open communication, consent and trust are all of the utmost importance in maintaining an environment where everyone is having as much fun as possible. Whether you spend your time cozying up to the nobility of Alderheart, or protecting the farmlands from bandits and monsters, the bonds you forge will serve as a bulwark against destruction. I use Roll20 for maps, combat encounters and die rolls. Most of the session will take place in a Discord server dedicated to this campaign. This allows for all game information to be in a central location that will already be accessed by everyone as the session.

Gameplay details

Session 0 will cover introductions, discussions of playstyle, character creation and a brief discussion of the Monty Cook RPG Consent Checklist. A link to download the Consent Checklist will be provided, and players can either fill it out or message me equivalent information. Sessions will contain a 15-20min break roughly in the middle of the session. I will be available for 30min after the session to discuss any concerns about the game, and am always available via direct message if the conversation needs to be held privately.

How will character creation work

During session 0 I will explain the character creation options for this setting for those who wish to create their own character. I will provide pre-generated characters for those who prefer. The game starts at level 1, and stats can be standard, point-buy, or rolled in front of the group (4d6, drop lowest). If you have access to the Humblewood campaign setting book, feel free to use any race, subclass, or spell from there (please avoid the adventure section though. I will keep an eye out for that). Otherwise, any core rulebook for DnD 5e is allowed. Homebrew is permitted so long as I approve it beforehand. 3rd party books are also subject to my approval.
