About the adventure
Standing proudly at the top of a rising craggy knoll, the Tower of the House of Jenulane was once a bastion of strength and protection. The Protectorate, a chivalric knighthood gathered around House Jenulane, acted as bearers of the Word of Gorhan, the Helmed Vengeance. For generations they held the encroaching evil at bay. Sadly, corruption seeped in and the Protectorate no longer lives up to its name, not its noble mission. Still a squire or eager defender of righteousness could find good here. The teachings are still held in the library ad the Path of the Valorous, a test of faith is still intact upon the grounds even if few true believers stand within the towers walls. Many stories remain to be told of the Tower of House Jenulane. Here is your chance to participate in its return to prominence! ...or bear witness to its fall! Play this adventure as either DCC or D&D5e. We will determine your preferences at time of booking. The Protectorate of Jenulane is a one player funnel adventure/mini-campaign. Most adventures (funnel or otherwise) are focused on a table of players, this one is more intimate, like visiting a fortune teller. This adventure can quickly create a third level Paladin for an ongoing campaign while testing a player’s wits. Yopu will start as a mere squire (zero level) and progress through to second level with completion awarding you the prized third level! Your backstory will be fantastic and original! If you and your friend(s) want, it can be run as a tournament where each person books a session and gets scored. _________________ I. This a low-fantasy, grimdark horror setting. II. Money is on a copper standard. Goods are limited and expensive. You will need to acquire every item you wish to possess in-game. III. Food is scarce. Only high-moisture fruits and vegetables survived until harvest. Fresh meat, eggs, and dairy consistently spoil. IV. There are no elves, dwarfs, halflings, or similar species here. V. Canines are very important to the success of humankind. This is reflected in their inclusion as player characters. They are still just dogs as we know them and should be played as such. VI. Magic is mysterious, dangerous, and feared. Its use is risky and will draw unwanted and sometimes violent attention. VII. Magic users will not be handed a list of spells. Lists assume that magic is understood and controlled. It is not. VIII. Faith-based magic is accepted, but rare. Performing miracles will draw the desperate to you. Demanding too much of your deity will draw their disapproval. Common deities are Delvyr (light & knowledge), Wyshalar (survival), & Gorhan (valor & vengeance). IX. Do not attempt to fight every threat. You will not survive. Instead, you will be rewarded for taking risks and engaging with your environment. You are here to create memories. X. Character death is normal. Do not get too attached. Always have another character waiting to step in. As the final step suggests: live fully and die gloriously!
The first day of the campaign will be in 2025. The Tower of Jenulane is located near Stennard. The region lay in the wooded foothills of a massive impenetrable mountain chain. As far as any of the regional layfolk are concerned they live on the edge of the world and all manner of horrors spawn in the shadow of the mountains beyond. There was a time when the people of region may have traveled further west, closer to the rising rock face. The roads that once were have long since been taken back by nature and nothing more than deer paths remain. The growing season in this region has seen a glut of torrential rains that have damaged and spoiled the crops. Stennard, the outlier town has few trading partners and its neighboring towns are suffering the same fate.

How to prepare
The Theater of the Mind (audio portion of the adventure) will occur on Discord supplemented by images and battle maps as needed. You will need an account on Discord. Access to the dedicated server will be open prior to the game. Owlbear Rodeo may be used. No subscription is necessary. Some players also enjoy the background music and effects of Syrinscape. A free account is now required for you to log into the site. Once you have the free account, a pregame link will provide you the immersive sounds. While fun, the music and sounds are not required. Characters will be made or provided on Discord. Pre-made characters are always available. Players will make characters during session zero; or, we can make one prior to the game session. Each of your characters will be made with a roll of three six sided dice in order. After the stats are determined, you will then roll for hit points modified by your constitution. Then it's time to roll a D100 for your profession. Other skills and possessions are determined by profession. Thats it! Your character is complete! Yup...it's that easy and believe it or not exciting! I will walk you through the process either before game or in the first few minutes of the session... ...and if they survive, the character will be augmented to full D&D5e 3rd Level Paladin with an interesting backstory. Each layer will be provided with a direct and private means of communication. Access to relevant books and rules will be provided. Curated Atmospheric Soundtracks if you opt to engage. Gameplay details
Players can expect a fast paced combat and a rules light gaming experience. The content warnings will vary depending on the game choice, but it is highly likely the game will have levels of violence involving player characters and non-player characters, with death always being a possibility. SAFETY TOOLS ・During Session 0 we will discuss Lines and Veils. ・A 10 minute break will occur roughly halfway through the session. Additional breaks are always available on request. ・Further details of all tool implementations are provided within the discord server. Feel free to ask any questions for clarification.

How will character creation work
Characters will start out at level 0 and be made on Discord. A simple process of rolling your stats and background will generate two to four zero level characters in a short time. You will be able to play as many of your characters as you can in the session. I will send you and invite to the campaign on Discord. Pre-Made Characters are available on request.
