Vanquishing the Villanous Vecna- 1-20lvl / 2024 Rules

Dungeons & Dragons 5e | Campaign

About the adventure

Moving from local hero to regional hero will be hard enough, but what will you do when you are called upon to help save the multiverse? Join us as we move forward from 1st to 10th level in the world of Faerun and then, just as you were settling into the thought of being Heroes of the realm, you get sent on the ultimate mission - find and stop the Arch-Lich Vecna before he becomes a god. Will it bring you closer to your companions, or tear you apart as tensions rise and danger mounts? Time to write your own story... If you are brave enough.

Party notes

This is intended to be a levels 1-20 campaign. The Campaign will start in Faerun and, using a mix of WotC and Homebrew content, take characters to level 10 before jumping into "Vecna: Eve of Destruction". We will be using the new 2024 ruleset.

How to prepare

A good quality mic is required. A stable internet connection is required. Accounts required - Roll20 Discord Regular attendance is required. If you choose to use D&DBeyond, have Beyond20 installed and be familiar with its use and settings.

What I provide

First - I bring 40+ years of DM experience to the table every game. What does that mean? It means if the players get crazy creative, I can usually match with improvisation without missing a step. I will be sharing my purchased books with the players aswell, allowing for the use of most races, classes and subclasses. A mix of both tried and true D&D content and situational Homebrew will be utilized. They will be run in a way in which they are complimentary and seamless. You may well recognize a map, but your character will need to keep their eyes and eaars open because things may not be as familiar as you think. CAVEAT - I do not tolerate bigotry, prejudice or hate speech of any kind. This type of behavior will result in getting immediately dropped from the game and banned from all of my future campaigns.

Gameplay details

Limits will be discussed at Session Zero. 10-15 minute breaks will be taken approximately 1/2 way through each session. If you have concerns - my door is always open. Stars and Wishes will be used periodically to help assess where everyone is mentally and emotionally. If emotions flare during game play, a break will be taken and a discussion will be had regarding the event in question.

How will character creation work

Characters will be created during session 0 and be using the new D&D 2024 ruleset. You can create on either D&D Beyond or Roll20, but you will be required to have an updated Roll20 sheet available at all times for when they break the API used by Beyond20, because this is inevitable. One of three methods will be used for abilities - 1. Roll 4d6 six times 2. A modified point buy that will be provided at character creation (35 points/17 max ability buy in) Starting level 3 - "Crunchy Crits" will be in effect. Crunchy Crit = Rolled Damage + Max Possible Rolled Damage Example - Regular hit = 1d6, Critical Hit = 1d6+6 Content NOT used: Strixhaven (Silvery Barbs too OP) Eberon (Not a Steampunk Campaign) Ravnica (Not a Steampunk Campaign) Dragonlance (Kender too disruptive) Characters can start with a single Uncommon magic item (DM approval required) and 2 consumable Common items (DM approval required). Reasoning - you have graduated from being Level 0 regular folk to level 1 Adventurers - consider this a promotion bonus.
