The Haunt, Part 3...The Space Between

Dungeons & Dragons 5e | One-Shot

About the adventure

Looking for a spine-tingling, edge-of-your-seat adventure in D&D 5e? The Haunt series plunges your party into a world of eerie mystery, atmospheric horror, and pulse-pounding danger. Starting with a cursed mansion shrouded in dark secrets, each installment builds tension with deadly traps, haunting puzzles, and terrifying foes. Perfectly crafted for players who crave exploration, roleplay, and combat balanced with a thrilling narrative. Can your group survive the horrors lurking in the shadows, or will they succumb to the darkness? Grab your dice and prepare to face your fears in this critically acclaimed 5-star adventure series! Unlock the secrets and drive back the evil from Montarthas Manor! A one shot, 2-3 hours per episode...if you play all three sessions it's a 6-8 hour Horror themed adventure, designed for characters of 4th or 5th level. I have had very torough players take much more than one session per episode. Each episode is playable as a discrete one-shot. In ages past, an ancient town was lost and destroyed to a seige of orcs. Only one building survived and to this day, the manor is the only still standing building to be seen for miles around. Some say it is haunted, a few whisper of great treasures within, whilst others whisper that it is the manor itself that lives! No one knows for sure, only that a great evil haunts its halls. Do you dare enter Montarthas Manor?! DISCLAIMER! This will be a challenging adventure for 4th level player groups of 4 to 5 players with some deadly encounters. However, ideally The Haunt is tailored as a medium difficulty adventure with plenty of excitement, horror, suspense and danger for a 5th level party of 3 to 5 players. The adventure is an Adamantine Best Seller on the The DMsGuild.com...Previous reviews from the publisher's page: "Perfect for a Halloween one-shot!" "My players were afraid to enter a room, but were also excited!" "Solid story!" "My players had a blast and it was a fun adventure to run."..."they all enjoyed the atmosphere of the adventure and commented that the creepy stuff definitely felt creepy." "This is truly awesome. Well Done!"

Game style

Rule of Cool (RoC)

“Rule of Cool” emphasizes creative story beats over sticking to a system’s rules as written. Players have the ability to push the limits of the rules or even break core rule mechanics at times if the Game Master thinks it is interesting, fun, or cool enough.

Dungeon Crawl

A “Dungeon Crawl” is a scenario where players navigate a dungeon or labyrinth-like environment for the entirety of the adventure. It emphasizes battling monsters, collecting loot, and avoiding traps to survive to the end!

Theater of the Mind

“Theater of the Mind” uses little to no visuals for scene settings and combat. Instead, the narrative imagery comes from the Game Master’s descriptions and character action and movement comes from Players’ descriptions.

Recruiting notes

The night hag Gertrude Widdershroom, who had destroyed an entire city and turned its inhabitants into constructs, minions and thralls. And now she is dead. All was well. But her parting gift was a sadness and weariness which broke up your party. Blown like fallen leaves, each sought solace in retirement or travel. …Until the dreams started. And then increased. They were always dreaming of the lost. The lost children. The lost city. The lost friends. A decision was made independently on the third anniversary of victory against the hag Gertrude to travel to the graves of your comrades. On arrival there was a surprise. A pleasant surprise. Your long lost comrades had each had the same dreams and each traveled to Conyberry. Then… Blood started to flow from the grave markers and pool widdershin. Realizing the significance, the heroes walked widdershin around the grave and were transported to The Space Between. There they encounter the spirit of the little girl trapped in the construct. The little girl explained she could reverse the time and cancel out the machinations of Gertrude. She explained they must gather a list of items from her past. And THAT is where the adventure starts…
