About me

Hello! I am Jay (they/them) and I would be delighted to run a game for you. I've been running multiple games a week since January 2021; I haven't run out of enthusiasm yet and I don't intend to! A bit about me as a person: 👶 Born 1995 🏳️‍⚧️ Openly genderfluid 🧑‍🎓 Studying Spanish and creative writing 🧶 Fibrecraft fan 🎼 Accepting music recommendations Apart from the games you see on this page, I can be available in the European morning/afternoon. Should you have a system you'd love to play but haven't found a GM for, send me a message and I'll see what I can do. ¿Quieres que yo sea narrador de una campaña en español para tí? Tengo alguna experiencia de eso, entonces ¡mándame un mensaje! No soy fluido en español, sino en Pathfinder 2a Edición 😁

Jay is the first GM I had for pathfinder 2nd edition. They had a good grasp of the rules and helped clear up multiple misunderstandings I had. They used excellent visual aids and appropriate music to set the mood. Jay has the ability to keep the game moving and most sessions I end up feeling like we accomplished a lot. In my 20 years of playing ttrpgs I've experienced lots of GMs who were not able to do that last one but none of those are the reason I am at Jay's table. In 16 sessions I have... Nearly died 5 times (great! I love feeling like I earned that level up ya know?) Left 3 sessions furious (Jay is wonderful with evil villains!) Ended 2 sessions devastated (It was a listen to Joji and cry night after one of those.) The point I'm getting at is that Jay is a storyteller first and foremost, they know how to have stakes in combat and out, how to make your choices matter, and their goal is to make you feel something. Jay puts in work to provide a safe experience, they use many safety tools and always err on the side of caution when dealing with sensitive material. As long as they continue to run games I will be here to play them.

I'm not good at writing reviews, so I'm gonna keep this short. They are inclusive, helpful, and do a lot of work to make the game fun.

Jay is great to work with! It is super fun to play with them. They are super friendly and able to work with any issues that come up.

Jay is a great GM. They strike the right balance between letting the players get away with cool things and putting their foot down, I feel. Our campaign is going at a fairly fast pace, but I never feel like we are being rushed. Overall, I would recommend.

Jay was my first DM for Pathfinder 2E, and the experience has been fantastic. Their mastery of Foundry and deep knowledge of the rules ensure a smooth and immersive gameplay experience. Beyond that, their storytelling is compelling, and they have a great understanding of player dynamics, making every session engaging and memorable. Highly recommend!

Character creation
Creating your character

You should have a character idea ready for our first meeting. A chosen level 1 character must be input into Foundry VTT by the end of session 0 (I will help with this!). Players who join later will make characters at the same level as the rest of the party. Rare and uncommon character aspects are theoretically subject to GM approval (but I will probably say yes). We will use the standard 'Boosts & Flaws' method of stat generation (listed here: https://2e.aonprd.com/Rules.aspx?ID=2027&NoRedirect=1). You are welcome to use Pathbuilder to design your character. Please check out the Player's Guide for information on appropriate characters: https://paizo.com/products/btq022ks?Pathfinder-Adventure-Path-Extinction-Curse-Players-Guide Don't know what any of this is? Don't worry, as I will provide all the guidance and resources you need ✨

The current party

We have begun to delve into an ancient temple that lies beneath the city, seeking answers and justice. Will you stand with the party against a threat to the whole island? And what role will you take on in their next show? Beginners 100% welcome. Weekly play, expect both fights and roleplay! The group are upbeat and fun, and a joy to run games for 😊 The party are level 6, using Free Archetype. Roster: 🐝Beeatrice, awakened bee alchemist 🐰Candy Cottontail, rabbit poppet oracle (and fiery leopard companion Pepper!) 🐲Snikt the Daring Dynamo, dragonblood kobold swashbuckler 🤜Stanchion, mimic monk Questions? Feel free to message me : ) I am on Euro time.

What to expect
Preparing for the session

You will need a mic and a computer with a web browser, such as Google Chrome or Firefox. You will also need accounts with Discord and the Forge (free level is fine). I can send you links to all of these. Not sure if your computer can handle Foundry? Try the demo here in your browser: https://foundryvtt.com/demo I am happy to use video, but you are not obliged to. If you do wish to use video, you will need some kind of webcam. You don't need to know the Pathfinder 2e rules in advance. However, please bring one or more character concepts - if you can't think of one I can provide a premade character in the meantime.

What Jay brings to the table

I will provide Foundry virtual tabletop with music, remade maps, and virtual dice. Premade characters will be available should you want one. I will also provide lots of enthusiasm! We will be using my Discord server with private channels for the game. Regarding rule adherence: I stick to the rules in combat, but allow cool things that are not game-breaking. Outside of combat things flow a bit more freely, and I love creative solutions! I have run multiple Adventure Paths to completion, including this one, and am open to adjusting or sticking to the story as the party prefers.

Safety
How Jay creates a safe table

Our first meeting will be a session 0. We will discuss safety tools, session length and campaign expectations, and any character set-up that needs doing - we may also run a 'non-canon' test combat if we have time. Safety tools: all lines and veils (ie things you don't want in the game) should be sent to me, and I will anonymise them and ensure the group is aware of where not to tread. We will also have an anonymous X-card button available, and the N- and O-cards can be typed into chat or my DMs at any point. The content warnings include the most significant 'warning-worthy' topics in the campaign. If there are other content warnings you need to know about, please let me know and we can discuss how to make you most comfortable. I am also happy to work with players to remove triggering content from the plot, as your fun and comfort is what's most important.
