Waterdeep: Dungeon of the Mad Mage
Dungeons & Dragons 5e | Campaign
About the adventure
Undermountain is the most infamous dungeon in all of Faerun, a sprawling complex beneath Mt Waterdeep that stretches on beyond reckoning into the depths. This mega-dungeon is the domain of Halaster Blackcloak, the titular Mad Mage, who delights in drawing hapless adventurers to their dooms. He came to Undermountain centuries ago, stealing much of the land from an ancient dwarven mine. Today, his dungeon is known as a curiosity, the centerpiece of the famous tavern The Yawning Portal in the city of Waterdeep. Everyone knows that great treasures lay within, and many descend into the depths, but few return. Durnan, the proprietor of the Yawning Portal, will lower you into Undermountain for only a single gold piece--and why not? It could only cost you a coin and your life, and you'll get both of those for free. This adventure will appeal to dungeon enthusiasts a great deal, but there is a shocking amount of roleplay opportunity to be had, as the massive dungeon has its own true ecosystem that interacts between levels in interesting ways. This module starts at level 5 and goes all the way to level 20, inviting you to experience the depths of true power D&D offers.

I will lead with the 1 Small Caveat for this DM... VERY rules oriented and the rule of cool can take a back seat because of that. That's it really. That's my only gripe. Very good at bending the story around the players to make it feel like you're in the world and not just 4 random people who got thrown into someone else's problem. Does this through great set design, voices, and music. I'm in my 3rd campaign with him and I've been very happy with both of my previous characters and their attachment built into the world a result of his work. Very good at keeping players with different gameplay desires working well together. Very good at knowing and explaining the rules as well as how the weird rules probably should be interpreted based off the logic that's present within the system.
Prism is an awesome DM. I came in knowing next to nothing about DnD and he patiently walked me through the rules and how Foundry worked. He puts a lot of time and effort into his craft and is quick to address any issues and inquiries that we had. Would definitely recommend. Firm, fair, and fun!

How to prepare
Know the basic 5e ruleset, have internet, a microphone, and Discord, and relax. No need to install other software or purchase anything. A desktop computer or bare minimum a laptop is needed. You will be connecting to my server via an easy link on your internet browser.
What I provide
Foundry VTT and D&D Beyond, amazing maps and music, many automation and animation tools that make games immersive and painless. Everything will be provided to you in digital format. I will also help with keeping a log of some important details, but players should expect to take notes for things they care about remembering.
Gameplay details
We will go over possible house rules and adventure overview in Session 0. It is one long dungeon from beginning to end, so expect to spend a lot of time on a map and little in the theater of the mind. Dungeon crawling might be broken up with some roleplaying, but the journey to the bottom of Undermountain is the focus.
