About the adventure

Welcome to Geb, a nation primarily populated by undead and ruled by a shadowy cabal of powerful figures known as Blood Lords. Geb is also the principal supplier of food for much of the Inner Sea region. Recently, one farm in the small town of Graydirge has been the site of a series of strange occurrences. Dispatched to investigate the problem, the player characters discover clues of a larger plot afoot. From these humble beginnings, the players must unravel the many layers of this mystery. Along the way they will navigate a web of villains and political intrigue, eventually becoming Blood Lords themselves. But this is far from the end of the characters' story arc, as other Blood Lords will flex their power - both openly and secretly- to stop your attempts to foil their devious plans. Notes: First session free! The group is midway through Book 3 (Field of Maidens) of the Blood Lords adventure path. This is a full six book AP spanning levels 1-20, so we are approaching the halfway point. There has been some recent party turnover (see below), so it is a good time to join as a mid-campaign reset, and the game is about to open up in terms of plot. I can easily get you up to speed with the story and ready to hit the ground running. I am looking for one or two additional adventurers to join us in a fun adventure frolicking through the land of undead! Also, while this campaign features plenty of morally ambiguous choices, it is more of a lawful setting, so don't expect to be a wanton murder hobo.

About me

My name is Wade, a.k.a. the Battle Barrister, and I have been playing D&D on and off since the ancient times of the red Basic Set and AD&D 1st edition. I came back to the fold and started playing 5e regularly following a spinal cord injury, and have now come to enjoy life behind the DM screen. Over the past few years my interests have shifted to playing and running Pathfinder 2e. I find it to be an elegant system and enjoy teaching new players. I have recently become what I like to term a semi-pro GM and am making the transition from Roll20 to Foundry.

Character creation

Creating your character

We can create characters together in Discord ahead of time and/or during a session zero (typically people get some general ideas ahead of time, and we can hammer out party composition during session 0). Characters will start at 1st level. For those not familiar with Foundry, the PF2e module provides access to all Paizo materials and you can drag and drop ancestries, feats, backgrounds, etc. into your sheet. You can also create characters through the Pathbuilder website and import them into Foundry. Typically I follow the pattern of: Common - fine Uncommon- probably good but ask first Rare - convince me (except undead archetypes) However, I will likely be a bit more heavy-handed than usual with limiting options given the nature of this adventure (horror/campy vibe, undead ancestries being commonplace, etc.). The undead archetypes from Book of the Dead can be found at https://2e.aonprd.com/Archetypes.aspx?Category=8, and the Dhampir heritage is also a possibility for those wishing to play undead characters. We will be using the following variant rules: - Free Archetype (Dedication at Level 1) - Gradual ability boosts - Free background lore boosts

The current party

Human Ghost Bard, Elf Dhampir Wizard, and Human Dhampir Summoner (Level 9) Two current players have been with me from the start. We recently lost two longtime party members and added a new one (the summoner). Feel free to play most anything that fits the setting.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Not much preparation is required. If you are familiar with Pathfinder 2e rules, great, but otherwise I can teach you the basics as we go. There is a short player guide for this adventure, which includes local information and helpful recommendations for player options. Definitely read through this document (available for download from the Paizo website, and I will provide a copy in the Discord server). In terms of technology you will just need a reasonably modern computer, along with a headset/microphone for audio through Discord. You will obviously need a Discord account, and to create an account for logging into Foundry through my hosting instance Once invited to the game, the group and I will chat on Discord about the outline of the adventure, character creation, and general nonsense to get to know one another.

What Wade brings to the table

I have the Foundry VTT reliably self-hosted, along with the official Blood Lords game package purchased through Paizo/Foundry. This includes high-quality maps, engrossing ambient sounds and music, and a full compendium for Pathfinder and the adventure. (I am still mastering Foundry, but am almost there) I have installed a judicious collection of helpful Foundry modules, and am open to further suggestions. The game audio will be run through Discord, and I maintain an active discussion server. I do have some physical limitations with my hands. I have managed to find some workarounds, but I ask for your patience at times. I try to create memorable NPCs with unique personalities and voices, and tailor the story to the characters. I generally stick to rules as written with Pathfinder 2e, since it is such an intricately balanced game. Particularly creative actions and solutions will generally be rewarded, though. We will run the PF2e remaster rules to the extent possible. I have a few house rules that are player friendly, including free archetype and gradual ability boosts. Lastly, all are welcome at my tables and I do my best to make everyone have a comfortable, fun experience!

Safety

How Wade creates a safe table

I have a list of player expectations and safety protocols in my discord server and we can go over specifics during session zero. Notably, Blood Lords involves an emphasis on undeath, classicism (even slavery of undead), and substantial gore, so you may be uncomfortable if these themes disturb you. My games have a 10 minute break about midway through the session. Players are encouraged to (publicly or privately) request a break if they are uncomfortable with the game material or discussion. If you need a break for other reasons, we will likely continue the game to the extent possible (other players have paid to be there, after all). My door is always open for discussion. Never feel bad about communicating your critiques, problems, issues with other players, etc. to me. I believe that most problems can be handled through communication.
