About the adventure
Whether or not you planned for it, you are trapped in the cage that is Barovia. A lost and forgotten valley terrorised by the vampire Strahd von Zarovich. What, or who, will you sacrifice to survive? How far will you go to escape this dreaded realm? Or, brave hero, do you intend to save it? In this level 1-10 adventure you'll be sure to encounter plenty of terrifying creatures; vampires, werewolves, undead, and more spooky horrors that like to lurk in the dark. In a setting that lets you go almost anywhere, your choices are yours to make. As your caring Dungeon Master, I will do my best to guide you away from outrageously dangerous locations, but ultimately, the final decision is yours, adventurer. I welcome new players and I am happy to spend time out of game hours to answer any questions and help you learn! Any official Wizards of the Coast content is allowed for characters and everyone starts with a free Feat of their choice.
The current party has a; Warlock, Ranger, Paladin, and Cleric. Sessions will also be 2.5 hours with 30 minutes of aftercare/debriefing/feedback/talking afterwards. (Total max of 3 hours)

I have gone through several session of Strahd with Rys and he is a fantastic GM. A couple of us are fairly new to D&D and Rys is very patient and helpful. Not only does he know and follow the rules, but the rule of cool is also encouraged and fun. I would recommend him to anyone looking for a good experience.

Rhys makes D&D a fun experience 😊 He is a knowledgeable DM and I have learned a lot from the adventures he runs. He is patient, always giving the time to give a rundown of how the game works and I appreciate that the most. Very beginner-friendly and he explains everything so well, makes it easy to understand. Currently, I am in a homebrewed adventure he created and it has been my favourite one I'm apart of, I look forward to our sessions every week 😄 Very creative and engaging, his preparation and dedication really shows in his work. Rhys has been Dming a Curse of Strahd campaign for me and I couldn't be happier. He is an incredible GM that adheres to the rules while also allowing awesome moments. The GM provides excellent maps and images of npcs that immerse players into the adventure. Players can be creative and the GM thoughtfully fits players’ ideas that are cool into the gaming session.

Additional details
How to prepare
Good quality microphone, Roll20 account, Discord. Webcams are optional but highly encouraged. If you are completely new or barely know the rules, shoot me a message before game time and we can spend some time so you can learn at least the basics.
What I provide
Roll20 Pro subscription. Several core compendiums. Official Adventure on Roll20 with complete maps + excellent quality custom maps. I know the rules for D&D5e very well but I'm not averse to the rule of cool. I'm also a very patient teacher when it comes to teaching people D&D or Roll20. You are also welcome to speak to me outside of game time to discuss anything.
Gameplay details
During Session 0 I will have a document that will be filled out. One for Lines and Veils, another for anything else Session 0 related. When potentially sensitive topics come up I will ask if everyone is ok and allow players to temporarily step out of the game, letting them know when the scene is over, or, if preferred, fade to black/skip it. Webcams are optional but will help with non-verbal gestures to indicate unease. All players will be welcome to message me at any time with issues.

How will character creation work
Character creation will happen during Session 0. Any official content from WotC is welcome. Characters will start at level 1 with a free Feat of your choice. If you wish to use something homebrew, please run it by me for approval first. My general rule for stat gen is that everyone can roll (4d6, keeping the highest 3, 6 times). If you feel unhappy with your roll, you may swap to a 27-point point-buy. If everyone rolls exceptionally well and one player does not, they can copy the rolls of the next-lowest person. Backstories are not mandatory but are highly encouraged! Most of the games I run take place in a homebrew world, so it's this kind of Frankenstein's monster of official and homebrew setting.
