Spelljammer: The Last Frontier | D&D5e

Spelljammer: The Last Frontier | D&D5e

Dungeons & Dragons 5e | Campaign

About the adventure

In the distant space between stars, somewhere in the vast beyond, lies the ancient ship known as "Spelljammer"! Wealth and glory beyond compare awaits whomever should find it, but the path to this mythical vessel is fraught with danger. Rumours have flown across the skies of many planets and realms, informing those in the know that the Spelljammer has been sighted again. You are not the only ones searching for it, and the competition may well grow deadly. Do you have what it takes to sail the Starry Seas with the best of them? This campaign is designed for a party of four to six adventurers, and will take you from level 5 to 13+. Allies and enemies alike await you amongst the stars, with dazzling adventures the likes of which the earthbound couldn't possibly comprehend. Take to the stars, sailors - show the multiverse who you are, and claim the Spelljammer! 🌟 𝑫𝒓𝒂𝒎𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒄 𝑺𝒊𝒍𝒍𝒚 𝑨𝒅𝒗𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒆 🌟 ⚔️ 𝑪𝒐𝒎𝒃𝒂𝒕: Medium ✨ 𝑹𝒐𝒍𝒆𝒑𝒍𝒂𝒚𝒊𝒏𝒈: Medium-High 🌀 𝑫𝒊𝒇𝒇𝒊𝒄𝒖𝒍𝒕𝒚: Low-Medium 𝑷𝒍𝒂𝒚𝒆𝒓 𝑩𝒖𝒚-𝒊𝒏: This story will largely be an opportunity to tell character stories, laugh at silly moments, and explore a vast and wild multiverse in a light-hearted way. A small team of villains and rivals will feature as the main driving force alongside your desire to find the Spelljammer, giving you a foe to race against. The character moments will be real and earnest, and as a DM I will not make the whole story a farce, but I will allow you to do almost whatever you like and make Rule of Cool the most important thing in this story. Expect zany enemies, wild adventure, and a chance to tell your character's story without a heavy plotline getting in the way - you're the main attraction, here! 🏳️‍🌈 📑 I prioritize a safe table for you and your party, and aim to create a fantasy setting that does not rely on bigotry to create fantastic and exciting experiences.

How to prepare

Voice and video communication will be run through Discord, with Roll20 or DnDBeyond used for character creation, and Roll20 for battlemaps, visual aids, and dice rolling. You are not obligated to use video, but I will mostly be running with my video on. 𝒀𝒐𝒖 𝒔𝒉𝒐𝒖𝒍𝒅: 🗡️ 𝑩𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒂 𝒅𝒆𝒄𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝒎𝒊𝒄 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒉𝒆𝒂𝒅𝒔𝒆𝒕, and remain on push-to-talk or otherwise mute yourself between speaking if you expect to have disruptive background noise. 🗡️ 𝑱𝒐𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒈𝒓𝒐𝒖𝒑 𝑫𝒊𝒔𝒄𝒐𝒓𝒅 𝒔𝒆𝒓𝒗𝒆𝒓. 🗡️ 𝑱𝒐𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑫𝒏𝑫𝑩𝒆𝒚𝒐𝒏𝒅 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑹𝒐𝒍𝒍20 𝒄𝒂𝒎𝒑𝒂𝒊𝒈𝒏𝒔 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒂𝒅𝒗𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒆.

Gameplay details

𝑪𝒐𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝑾𝒂𝒓𝒏𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒔: As a homebrew campaign, the type of content that players encounter and the way that players encounter it is largely up to the players to determine, meaning that while many content warnings are listed, these are only possibilities - not guarantees. Some other content may be encountered depending on player choices, but there will always be options to either reject this content, or skip past it and leave it veiled. Session 0 will help to determine more of what will be or will not be encountered. 𝑮𝒂𝒎𝒆𝒑𝒍𝒂𝒚: I run a script-heavy Roll20 game with plenty of visual aids and handouts, and will (usually) post most of these to a group Discord as well. Dynamic lighting, scripts to improve the accessibility and quality of your game, and macros to make every element of the game as simple as possible are all elements that I offer. These elements can be disabled upon request, if there are issues with lag or concerns about usability. 𝑯𝒐𝒘 𝑾𝒆 𝑷𝒍𝒂𝒚: We will use Roll20 as a virtual table-top (VTT) for gameplay and dice-rolling, and Discord for voice and (optional) video. I will use a camera, but you are not required to do so unless you want to. I use music bots in Discord for audio and ambience, but can also use Syrinscape upon request. I will have Discord open at all times on a separate monitor, so if you want to ask me any questions or have concerns about the gameplay, you can message me either straight through Roll20 or through Discord. I am also available throughout the week (excluding Saturdays) to help troubleshoot any tech issues or character questions, to a reasonable extent. 𝑺𝒆𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒁𝒆𝒓𝒐 & 𝑺𝒂𝒇𝒆𝒕𝒚: Prior to our Session Zero, I will make sure everyone has a copy of the consent checklist to fill out, so that I can note during our conversation what matters are off-limits, and give you some anonymity if you want it. Our Session Zero will cover campaign direction and themes, the main elements of the campaign, preferred style of play and difficulty, content warnings and safety concerns, character creation guidelines, party integration, player etiquette, and house rules. If there are any other elements you'd like to discuss, please feel free to bring them up with me ahead of time, and I will discuss with you as to whether or not we should include them in our conversation.

How will character creation work

Character creation will be discussed in-depth during Session Zero and in the group Discord beforehand. Access to both a DnDBeyond campaign and Roll20 campaign for character creation will be provided when you join the game, and you can feel free to discuss character concepts in the group Discord ahead of time. I suggest that you not completely finalize character creation until after it has been discussed during Session Zero, as after discussing it with the party, you may wish to make some alterations to better fit into the party's identity and goals. 🗡️ Characters will start at 5th level. 🗡️ 27 Point-Buy for stats, not rolled. 🗡️ Averages for HP instead of rolling. Further prep materials will be provided to you once you're signed up for the campaign, to give you a more in-depth look at just how character-building works. I offer several additional perks for new characters to help you create the character of your dreams!
