About the adventure
Your annual reunion weekend is cut short when a dimensional portal rips open and modern day Los Angeles is over run by goblins and orcs and all manner of unspeakable evil. But your lifelong band of friends has been through too much to sit back and let malicious forces spoil the good time. Aided by a confused sorcerer who thinks you are the Earth's best hope for survival, your crew taps into the an ancient magic that transforms this gang of working professionals into a party of orc slayers, determined to free Los Angeles (and the associated municipalities contained therein) from certain doom.

About me
I am a professional filmmaker taking some time off to be with family. So while my son is at school, let's play some D&D! I find getting a game going is (usually) easier than getting a film made so being a Dungeon Master is great way to build worlds, create characters and then actually see it all come to life. I love to home-brew my games and I get such a thrill from presenting a moment or character to the players and watching them react and then start building on the story I started. RPGs are also the only medium I know where the audience and the collaborators are one and the same.

Creating your character
For story reasons that will become clear, you will be creating two separate characters. I will explain more during the (free) session zero but to start you will make a modern day human. And then you will, of course, get to dig into the super natural fun of regular D&D character after the story gets going. And if you would rather I handle all the character creation, that's fine too. I can roll up whatever you want to play.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
You'll need a webcam and mic. Also, you'll need accounts (free is fine) on roll 20 and D&D Beyond. I will send you links to follow once you join the campaign.
What Andrew Bowler brings to the table
D&D is about people creating together so I like to spend as much time interacting on the zoom chat as possible. (I REALLY wish we were all in the same room but oh well) I will occasionally drop in music and images to set the atmosphere. D&D Beyond keeps your character sheet. My Roll 20 maps are used mostly for orientation in battle and a little flavor. I like to save the bells and whistles for the story and character interaction.

How Andrew Bowler creates a safe table
There will be a free session zero to get a sense of player expectations and needs and so I can share a little about how I like to DM. If there is anything players find upsetting or triggering, this can be brought up in the session zero or I am certainly available for private conversation before the game or at any point during the campaign. And if a player needs to step off the chat for whatever reason, that is no problem. But I'd hope to have open communication throughout the campaign so I know about my players needs.
