About the adventure
In this 5e campaign you play as treasure hunters looking to make a quick buck. Face off versus monsters, traps, and the elements to bring back riches to the Dungeon Company (who only take a modest percentage in return for feeding, clothing, and equipping you). The Dungeon Company is hiring brave fool-err-heroes to dive into the tunnels beneath your town. Sign the contract and suit up for the chance of a lifetime! * Rumors have spread about a newly discovered entrance to the ancient dungeon complex beneath the region. It is said to be in the ruins of an old church. The Dungeon Company has caught wind of this rumor and is eager to lay claim to the treasure before any rival groups can get their hands on it. They've expedited the recruitment of adventurers, promising substantial rewards and incentives for those who can locate and secure the vault's contents. *Survival not guaranteed.

How to prepare
We will be using Discord and Google Drive. Stable internet connection, basic internet knowledge, and a microphone should be all you need. I don't usually play with webcam on, but if players may do so if they so choose.
What I provide
This is my second campaign through Startplaying.games My other campaign is more story driven. I would like this to be more of a dungeon-crawl adventure with opportunity for emergent storytelling as opposed to a planned-out plot. I've been a TTRPG GM for over forty years and have played with MANY different groups. My other campaign uses a VTT system, but I am going to try to run this one as "Theater of the Mind" style to keep the game rolling more quickly. If you don't know what all of these terms mean, don't be afraid to ask! I have a dice-roll app in my discord channel as well as a Google Drive character sheet that comes with easy-to-use dice macros. I expect players to be responsible for understanding their character and maintaining their own character sheets, but I am flexible and able to assist if you don't understand something. I don't use D&D Beyond much, but I believe that there is enough interactivity with Discord that you should be able to use it if that is your preference.
Gameplay details
I do not ever include topics like sexual assault in my games. I don't generally allude to sexual situations and if any such thing occurs in game between consenting adults I believe in "panning away". Adult humor is ok with me if everyone at the table is an adult. Even then it depends on what the players are comfortable with. This is one of the reasons session zero is important, so we can discuss this sort of thing. This is D&D and there are undead. So skeletons, zombies, etc. are common in this setting. Some of the environmental storytelling alludes to the lives and trauma of NPCs and intelligent monsters.

How will character creation work
The game starts at first level. We will use a Google Drive character sheet and most dice rolls can be accomplished by cutting and pasting the relevant macro into the Discord. I am happy to go step by step with players making characters. I can also help set up your character sheet so that players do not need to worry about calculating every dice roll.
