Prepare for epic encounters, unforgettable characters, and a campaign that will leave a lasting mark on the multiverse! 🌟 Hello! I’m GM Joe! A passionate Dungeon Master who’s all about immersive storytelling, unforgettable characters (both PCs and NPCs), and epic roleplaying moments. Whether you’re a seasoned player or brand new, I’m here to guide you through an incredible experience that’s more about having a memorable, fun time than a rules-knowledge-test. I’m not one of those super strict DMs who gets caught up in every single mechanic. Sure, the rules are important, but for me, it’s all about the story, the choices you make, and how your characters interact with the world around them. Expect intense roleplay, in-character voices, and moments that feel like you’ve stepped into a scene from Critical Role or Dimension 20. I’m a huge fan of both, and I strive to recreate that same dynamic energy, humor, and drama at my table. My sessions are focused on creating a collaborative space where everyone can be a hero (or a villain!) in a unique, evolving story. If you’re looking for a DM who loves to dive deep into characters and make your adventure feel personal, let’s roll some dice and craft an unforgettable campaign together!

About me

I love playing games that create interesting stories. For me, the collaborative storytelling happening is the main reason we play, and while I do my absolute best to be up-to-snuff on the rules of any game system I run, I will always favor a wonderful storytelling moment over a strict interpretation of the rules. I believe the best stories are ones where the players get to make meaningful and hard choices. Player agency is first and foremost in my games, and I love to play games where choices are dynamic to the situation, making each decision something to really think about but not agonize over. It’s also important to me to clarify, I love good wholesome and campy heroic tales as well! Like typical in D&D adventures, where the villains are unambiguously evil and the heroes are likely to come out on top. I tend to spice these up by adding cleverly woven backstory elements from each character into the adventure, making it both more personal and higher stakes. During the game, I love, and take time, to describe things in vivid detail, while pointedly noting anything important to players. If a player doesn’t understand something in my description, I’ll happily take a quick second to compare it to something in Movies or TV or video games to hopefully bridge that gap. Lastly, I pride myself on keeping plots and quests easily digestible. I don’t expect players to all take careful notes, so I form my games and stories around this to make them engaging without being so tangled and overly complicated that it becomes hard to follow what is going on and why. I want everyone to come to the table excited to play, without needing to take “homework” back with them when the session is over. If you're excited about being in-character, enjoy doing a silly voice or accent, look for ways to have dramatic or heartfelt scenes with other PCs, and possibly watch a lot of D&D actual-plays, I think you and I will get along just fine!

Character creation

Creating your character

If you're new, and aren't sure how to create a character, I've got your back! I can generate a premade character for you, OR work with you to go step by step and build your very own character! I have a Nexus subscription and can supply you with all the resources necessary to use the Demiplane character maker. If you have ANY questions or concerns, please reach out to me! I'm a very accommodating DM, and I want this to be fun first and foremost.

The current party

If you're not a stickler for airtight rules and want to have fun doing character voices and making meaningful decisions, where rules text doesn't get in the way, this is the game for you!

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Think about what class and species you want to be! If you're stuck or can't decide, I'm happy to help with character creation, by giving you a better place to start. If you want to develop a backstory, leave a few open spots in their history so other players can tie in to your character's life, that way it makes aligning everyone a bit smoother. Other than that, come with an open-mind and willingness to play along! Practice a fake accent or silly voice, listen to some Live Play games, or go watch Lord of the Rings or D&D: Honor Among Thieves! Again, I cannot stress this enough, if you have any hangups or reservations, please reach out! I don't bite. I want you to feel excited about playing, and I'm very well prepared to do that however best suits your needs.

What GM Joe brings to the table

All you need to play is a web browser, and a Discord account! I run games out of Foundry VTT (which you access like a website) and typically utilize Discord to both stream music and facilitate voice chat (and maybe video if you have a webcam!). I also make use of a soundboard I have on my computer for added fun and immersion! I own and will share all documentation and character creation tools at my disposal!

How GM Joe creates a safe table

I keep the tone for these sorts of games much lighter. Consider any classic action fantasy movie. Something like Lord of the Rings, D&D Honor Among Thieves, or The Hobbit. The sorts of themes you see in there are what I will emulate in this game.
