About the adventure
You live a thousand years after the gates to the underworld were shattered and the world was filled by what was beyond them. That doesn't matter to you though, you're a scoundrel in Doskvol looking to survive and make enough coin to satisfy your vices. Cause you're a lucky crook, you have a handful of other scoundrels you can mostly trust that are your crew. Together, you all are going to take on the world, stake claims, make coin, and force out your competition. Why should you play Blades in the Dark? Setting! Doskvol and the surrounding world is dark and gritty. A ghost filled world is kept out by electric fences that surround the Victorian styled city. This is all powered by demon blood and alchemy. A mix of cultures and influences fill the city itself. Outlined in the book, but we'll make it ours, putting on our own colors, twists, and interests into it. Scoundrels! Your character is a scoundrel, a criminal, and somebody interested in coin and their vices. Blades in the Dark has easy character generation that has evocative character generator to make each playstyle your own. Crew! You are automatically part of a crew with the other players and maybe some others. You all have a roadmap to progress and can plan on how you want to succeed. Heists! The Forged in the Dark system is so easy to learn and allows us to jump into a heist with minimal planning. We can use flashbacks and the system to quickly fill out details and state how you all were always planning this. Thrilling action, daring stunts, and high stakes cons will be the core of the game. I love this game. It provides enough information and a skeleton that we can build on for ourselves. Everything in the book is something we can take, leave behind, or modify. During a session zero, through the characters and crew creation, we'll build what our Doskvol looks like. What does a Whisper attuning to the world look like? What is a demon and what do they do? What's the color of the clouds when the sun shows itself at the height of noon on the less stormy days? It continues as we play and engage with the system, your crew getting themselves entangled in other plots and factions. Doskvol exists, but we'll make it our own in this campaign. In this game, you'll be able to easily learn the system and new players are encouraged to jump in. There is no need for knowledge of the setting or the rules. You can easily pick it up through the basics of play. All the basic rules can be found here: https://bladesinthedark.com/basics The game will be played in Roll20 with Discord as our communications hub. I have all the modules purchased for Roll20 and it's easy to learn and use.
This is a completely open start. The players will decide on their focus and how they want their scoundrels and crew to grow. We'll work together to progress from there.

How to prepare
Setup a Roll20 and Discord account and accept the links to the games. Get your mic and, if you are willing, a camera, setup. After that, enjoy your favorite heist fiction, whether it be a video game, movie, or book. Come prepared with some great ideas and thoughts about what you want to see in this world.
What I provide
I will bring a Roll20 campaign with a landing page that gets updated each game to show events that are occurring in Doskvol and around the crew. These might be handouts showing news stories, letters intercepted, or maybe notes form friends, rivals, and goons. This is where all the sheets will be stored as well and all the rules of the game. We'll use Discord for voice and video. Video isn't necessary but always appreciated to help communicate and know how everybody is doing.
Gameplay details
In a session zero, we'll build out our lines and veils and share them with the group. We'll also decide on our tone, is this a deadly game where life is cheap and death quick or something gritty but not necessarily deadly? Do we want plenty of supernatural content or chill it down? We'll also discuss the X,N,O cards and how to use them in case content comes up that gets near a line or veil. During games, we'll follow the system and so go from free play, gathering information on possible leads, a heist, then the fallout from it. Finally characters get some downtime to recover or spend coin. Then it all starts again!

How will character creation work
Character creation will occur during a session zero and will be typical for a Blades in the Dark game. There are multiple playbooks available and typically each player plays something different. We will also make our crew, choosing what kind of "work" they typically do. Maybe you are selling some illicit products, providing muscle, or killers for hire. Finally we'll go over a wish list of items that people will want to see.
