About the adventure

You have been recruited as a member of an adventuring party by a lord to track down the mysterious Horse of Power, a powerful figure in the legends of the world of Mesečinka. In this adventure inspired by the story of the firebird, a traditional slavic folktale, you will be greeted by figures and beings from all over slavic folklore, and delighted by adventure through ancient forests and grand palaces alike. This game is perfect for fans of everything related to slavic folklore, from fans of The Witcher to people who just really like Baba Yaga. It will be starting at level 1, and is open to people of all levels of experience.

About me

Hi there! I’m Francesca (she/her), a queer AuDHD nerd and literal hobbit. I’m currently a university student in Ireland studying folklore, and I spend essentially all of my free time thinking of new campaigns and characters. I know exactly what it’s like to be a new player and I am extremely happy to be a guide for every step of the way. My games are welcome to all who don’t often see themselves reflected in the larger TTRPG community, because I know firsthand how intimidating it can be for anyone who doesn’t fall under the label of cishet man. I also have lots of experience when it comes to running games for first-time players, so I’m always happy to help people experience the magic of DnD for the first time, as well as working with players at all levels of experience. I run games using D&D 5e, usually with a lean towards themes from folklore and fairytales. I take a creative approach when it comes to game design and character creation, and I love unconventional character builds that center fun and creativity rather than power-gaming. I’m also a huge fan of Lord of the Rings, the Princess Bride, Over the Garden Wall, and Dimension 20, so be sure to expect lots of adventure with lots of wholesome cozy vibes.

Character creation

Creating your character

Character creation will happen before the first session, and I am happy to work with you if you're unfamiliar with the process or just want to know more about the campaign. We will be starting at level 1, and stats will be decided by the rolling system rather than the point buying system. I also will ask that you stick with the races and classes in the official Players Handbook.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

You will need: A functioning webcam and mic, a character concept, and a full imagination!

What Francesca brings to the table

I deeply love the magic in storytelling, so I lean towards story and narrative over pure game mechanics. That being said, feel free to roleplay at whatever level is comfortable with you, whether that be full character voices and conversations or just narrating what actions you wish to take. However you want to play is up to you, and it’s my goal to make sure you’re having a good time. My games are mostly theater of the mind, but I will have an overall map for the setting. I’m pretty chill when it comes to rules; I think that the goal of playing DnD is to have a good time and the mechanics shouldn’t have to get in the way of that. I do broadly follow the rules as written, mainly for clarity’s sake. However, if we come across something that gets in the way of telling the story we want to tell, I’m happy to work with you (within reason of course). As a player, you can expect a rich and open world, complete with fantastical storytelling, diverse and colorful NPC’s, homebrew creatures and magical items, and a warm, welcoming environment for all.

Safety

How Francesca creates a safe table

Session 0 will include a discussion of what the players' comfort levels are with any themes/topics that may come up, to ensure that everyone feels safe and welcome. We will also discuss players' relative levels of experience with D&D, as well as comfort levels in terms of roleplaying and character building.
