About the adventure

The Gloaming. An ancient, misty forest beset from within and without by foul beasts, odious servants of darkness, and primordial evils. Here, the people who call this unforgiving place home struggle to eke out their daily existence. Will you be the ones to deliver this wood from the clutches of darkness? Or will you succumb to the shadows like so many others? Grab your torches and your gear and lets find out!

About me

Hi! I'm Eric ^_^ I'm relatively new to the ttrpg scene(especially considering some people have literal decades of experience!). I've been a player for a few years, but only recently started dming. Although I'm mainly familiar with Dnd 5e, I love ttrpgs in general. Specifically, because they allow far more freedom and creativity than almost any other medium. I welcome all kinds of players, experienced and novice alike!

Character creation

Creating your character

We will cover character creation in session 0. Character creation is quick and simple in order to facilitate gameplay and not interrupt the flow of sessions. In fact, I will have a number of pre-generated characters on hand if you'd just like to grab and go(so to speak).

What to expect

Preparing for the session

What will you need to play?: 1). You will need a mic, however no web cam will be necessary. Although not strictly necessary, a headset or headphones is also highly recommended so as to not disrupt other player's audio experience. 2). You will need a Discord account. We will be using the voice chat and messaging through there. I recommend using the app instead of the browser for game sessions. https://discord.com/ 3). We will be playing using Foundry VTT, so I will send you the Foundry VTT link to our game, and your login info for it, through Discord. And that's it! Hope to hear from you soon and I look forward to having lots of adventures together! ^_^

What Eric brings to the table

All the information for playing and character creation will be provided in Foundry VTT and Discord. I like to provide atmospheric music, scenic splash screens, and tactical battle maps(especially with regards to battle maps and encounters, I like to construct them so that things feel dynamic). I enjoy doing stuff like character voices, but don't feel like it's something you'll have to do if you don't want to ;)

Safety

How Eric creates a safe table

When you join the Discord server I will send a brief RPG checklist for you to fill out and we can go through it in direct messages. During our session 0(or your introductory session if you are joining after) we will go over and discuss the safety tools for the campaign. Due to the nature of the setting and the themes of Shadowdark, things can get a bit dark at times, but aside from swearing(I swear like a sailor tbh) I plan on keeping things relatively PG-13, with fading to black or leaving things implied rather than explicit. Midway into the session we will have a 10-15 min break to get snacks, use the restroom, or take care of any other necessities. I have a zero tolerance policy for the following things: Do not sexually harass or verbally abuse any player at the table. It does not matter if it's "in character" or out. Do not do it. Bigotry in any form. This includes jokes. That type of humor does not have a place at my table.
