♾️🏳️🌈 Outlaws of Alkenstar || Punks in a Powderkeg 🧨
Your back’s against the wall. Crossed the wrong people. But you’ve got one explosive ticket to freedom coming your way.
About the adventure
“If he’d just pay me what he’s spending to make me stop robbing him, I’d stop robbing him!” — BUTCH CASSIDY AND THE SUNDANCE KID, dir. George Roy Hill (1969) Alkenstar. City of Smog. A bad place to live, and a worse place to die. Even more so when you’re on the lam. Maybe you did what they’re accusing you of. Maybe you didn’t. Maybe you were just in the wrong place at the wrong time. Doesn’t really matter — you’ve been drawn and quartered in the court of public opinion. More than that, you’ve made an enemy of the city’s most influential people: the billionaire and the sheriff. You’ve made your bed, and if you can’t keep ahead of them, your head will be on a pike faster than you can cry mercy. Just when you thought it was over — back against the wall, no hope from here, you have to live free or die — someone handed you a lifeline. The smooth-talking, gun-slinging barkeep Foebe Dunsmith says she’s got one hell of a bank robbery waiting with your name on it. It’s a way to get rich while getting back at the people who signed your death warrant. You know what they say about “one last job,” right? One heist gone right has got you hankering for more. Bigger. Now your sights are set on Alkenstar’s great new hope. It’s called pyronite, and it makes quite a bang… no pun intended. Once this explosive chunk of rock hits the open market, it’s going to change the world. Let’s just hope it’s for the better. About me
My name's MJ (she/her), and I'm everything your parents warned you about: a horror writer, a punk rock guitarist, a Philadelphia sports fan, and a Dungeon Master! My friends have described me as "a German Shepherd cursed to be human," "the universe's favorite chew toy," and "too interesting for my own good."

Storytelling
MJ is an absolute gem, from her incredibly bizzare personal stories to her scarily accurate summary of the movie Cats. I couldn't think of a better person to lead me through my first game with absolute strangers, her ability to weave the story and immerse herself in the characters is unmatched - as is her ability to be an absolute goofball when she wants. I couldn't recommend her enough, she inspires a safe, inclusive and beginner friendly space.
Truth be told, I have a heard time finding the words to describe how good of a GM MJ is. I understand that her style may not be to everyone's liking. For example, she's gonna spend a lot of game time talking about whatever drama has hit the NHL this week or what concert she went to the night before. She might take you on a tangent talking about how her college roommate almost killed her or how much she loves Anne Hathaway. But that's cause at the end of the day, MJ wants to be your friend. And I think that's her biggest strength. Sure, any DM worth their weight in gold knows the rules, tells a wonderful story, sets a great tone, builds unique visuals and so on and so on. But very few DMs put such an emphasis on making everyone has a good time. That isn't to say that most DMs don't, but I can say beyond a shadow of a doubt that MJ does it better than anyone else. She prioritizes the experience that you have and wants you to have the most fun experience possible. She'll make you laugh, she'll make you cry, she'll make you cheer and if you're a good enough player, she'll feel those feelings right along with you. And the fact that she can do that for all of the games that she runs is a herculean feat. I understand if she doesn't mesh with the way you like your games to be run, but MJ's style of gameplay encapsulates everything that I love about this nerdy hobby that we all have. And if that wasn't enough, she's just a damn good friend. So if none of that convinces you to give MJ a chance, I don't know what will. Now if you'll excuse me, MJ's gonna go on another rant about Philly sports and frankly, I'm not gonna miss that for the world!
MJ always has great sessions, complete with hilarious stories about the most random things that she somehow weaves into the game, complete preparedness for combat in the tricky Pathfinder 2e system and an easy to follow and engaging storyline. She always allows for player expression when solving the roleplaying challenges by giving you many options for what rolls to use to make your character choices feel important. Just be careful, her dice are cursed to give her better rolls and you better hope she doesn't throw a trivial encounter at you (this is sarcastic). Overall a great GM!

How MJ creates a safe table
The content warnings detailed below list items that are likely to appear in the game. This is not a complete list of sensitive content that might arise mid-session. Part of our Session 0 will involve discussing players’ comfort levels with potentially triggering topics, and the game can be altered to minimize or even avoid certain subject matter. Players who join mid-campaign should discuss these topics with the GM during weekly office hours. Certain themes are so central to the text that to remove them from the game would be to destroy the campaign’s fundamental premise. Alkenstar is the guns and explosives capital of Golarion, and your characters will deal with both industries directly. The primary antagonists are corrupt law enforcement and the wealthy, both of whom will stop at nothing to kill you. Finally, the Mana Wastes outside of Alkenstar have a habit of mutating anyone who stays in them too long without the appropriate protections. Tabletop role-playing games are meant to be an escape from the horrors of the real world, and as a queer woman, I pride myself on making my tables a safe and inclusive environment for all. Above-table prejudices such as racism, misogyny, homophobia, and transphobia are unacceptable at my table and will lead to your immediate removal from a session without refund, as well as a ban from all present and future tables hosted by this GM.
