Curse of Strahd | Gothic Fantasy | DND 5E (2014)
Dungeons & Dragons 5e | Campaign
About the adventure
π_______________Curse of Strahd________________π You will play as doomed souls that become trapped within the land of Barovia ruled by the immortal and powerful Dark Lord Strahd Von Zarovich. π¦____________________Story_____________________π¦ You all come to the small crossroads of Trails End seeking something. Perhaps for information on dangerous beasts prowling the area or the missing children in the area? Maybe you seek out the famous Leviathan Tavern and the Nobles meeting within? Maybe you have heard of the mist appearing in the great wood and the secrets beyond? π³οΈβπ____________________Inclusive__________________ π³οΈβπ I try and create a friendly space where all are welcome in both my Discord and in my games themselves. Racism, Homophobia, Transphobia and other forms of bigotry will not be tolerated. π________________Bleak but Joyful_______________ π This is a horror focused campaign with lots of dark moments and murder (particularly children) so be warned. But there is plenty of humour, heart and room for bright eyed adventurers and stoic heroes seeking to do good. Between my silly vague Eastern European accent/s and a quirky cast of NPCs we're sure to be in for a fun time! Can't wait to play with you all!

Top tear DM. Bar-none. Good voices, knows the rules, keeps good pacing, elicits player feedback. If you want it Joji's got it. She's read the rules and knows them like the back of her hand. She also knows how people have fun in games like this, so won't heat you over the head with the rulebook if you are trying to do something interesting or expressive. 5/5 would play again.
I was amazed by how interactive the character creation was and for my first time playing in a serious campaign, was a huge help. Joji was every helpful and willing to create the most ideal character for me. My schedule got messed up but otherwise I would play forever! 10/10 would recommend.
Holy shit! Joji is a FANTASTIC DM. It's not like there aren't a lot of good DMs on StartPlaying. A bunch of people offer different strengths and good games. But Joji is SPECIAL. I've played at a lot of D&D tables over StartPlaying, in a bunch of great campaigns. But in terms of # of unforgettable moments / session, Joji beats everyone. No DM has made me feel triumphant and at the brink of crying AT THE SAME time before. By the third session, we were already experiencing very out-of-the-box cinematic moments that just don't happen in regular D&D games. There have been so many emotional moments of regret, disgust, pity, self-loathing, celebration, glory, terror, and surprise, along with tons of laugh-out-loud hilarious fun. In Joji's game that I play in, every single player has gone into very creative, original roles and behaviors. This isn't about roleplaying chops of individual players, it's about how Joji sets the stage -- every character finds themselves in a unique position rather than a generic party member role. Do yourself a huge favor and play a game with Joji. Your mind will be blown. I have to wake up at 6:30 am to play at this specific game (and I was late several times), but it is SO worth it. It's my favorite campaign among all 5 I'm playing in right now, despite being the only one early in the morning. Otherwise I would have dropped a long time ago---I'm not a morning person.
I'm currently playing with Joji as my DM in Curse of Strah'd, and have also played a homebrew world of hers as well. Both have been immersive, with distinct personalities for all the NPCs, excellent descriptions of the environments, and realistic voices that I would expect of the NPC's race and demeanour. I am Autistic and ADHD, and due to that sometimes need some accommodations around communication, including being able to type my responses, and some patience around information processing. She is happy to support me around those accommodations and help make them fluid. Joji also allows some homebrewing tweaks around character creation which is nice in enabling me to create a character that I can can really enjoy. She makes a game like Curse of Strah'd safe as well. I haven't come across any content that I've needed to use it for, but Joji has things like safety cards and debriefing in place for players that need it, she is also ok with tweaking campaign content to make it more safe for players. I recommend her for new players as well as Neurodivergent or LGBTQI+ folk, She makes games safe and wouldn't stand for any players being innapropriate towards others. Overall DnD is my highlight of each week and that due to Joji's fantastic DMing.

How to prepare
You will need a Discord and Roll 20 Account to play this game. Roll 20 is a browser based virtual game-board that most computers can run easily. Using either your phone and earbuds or a fully mic and headphones setup you will need the ability to do voice chat. A consistent internet connection and fairly quiet living space is also a must. Together during Session 0 or 1-on-1 before the 1st Session starts I like to do a test with the dynamic lighting and give you a chance to familiarize yourself with Roll-20.
What I provide
I have a Pro account with Roll20 so all of the lighting and character options you could ask for. I have the module on Roll20 so there is a wealth of handouts and customs maps all ready to go. I also like to keep the in game player journal nice and neat so you can search info about the various NPC's the party has met in your own time.
Gameplay details
I like to have a one one one chats about themes you want to avoid and what spooks you want to explore. I have a detailed safety tools document in my discord for those who wish to peruse it. While I like to include in the horror aspects of the Campaign I do try to keep it light and fun as possible. But yeah their is a lot of dead kids in this adventure!

How will character creation work
We will be making characters together on the platform using the charactermancer. We will be starting at Level 3 and while you can do standard array you are most welcome to roll for stats. I also have most of the subclass/race options in Roll20 so go wild!
