About the adventure

Swashbuckle your way across the Bay of Broken Dreams with a crew of salty sailors in this custom 5e campaign. Gameplay features include an interactive hexmap, unique weather, sailing, and navel combat mechanics, mind-bending treasure dungeons, a cast of unforgettable NPCs, and a somber mystery at the heart of it all. We will play on Discord, using a streamed battlemap and theater of the mind. Games occur weekly. We can hold a free session 0 if the majority of players support it. We will play baseline 5e rules, with the option to shift to 5.5e.

About me

https://linktr.ee/gnomestones www.gnomestones.fun You can call me Scraw, Sam, or something else. I was raised on old-school Dungeons and Dragons, and carry forward classic principles in all of my games. I have experience running Dungeons and Dragons (ADND, 3.5e, and 5e), Dungeon Crawl Classics, Old School Essentials, and Cairn. I am founder and director of the Gnomestones gaming organization, which publishes TTRPG modules, creates content for youtube and twitch, manages the website www.gnomestones.fun, and hosts game development jams in the greater Olympia area. I am a long time nerd of fantasy, gaming, philosophy, and nature. My table is welcoming, supportive, and fun, and I have high hopes that the stories you will craft with me will be exciting and unforgettable! I have years of experience as an educator, leadership trainer, and therapeutic group facilitator. I apply my group dynamics training to ensure that my table is respectful, encouraging, and to help each player have fun at their own rate and in their own way.

Character creation

Creating your character

As this is a full campaign, character creation is important. Players are usually comfortable with the 5e system, and could make suitable characters ahead of time. However, there are a variety of reasons we might want to collaborate on character creation. 1. Maybe you've never played before, if so welcome! 2. You might have some questions about custom character design, or want to know what other people are playing 3. The world of Gnomestones goes deep. For more information on in-game lore, visit www.gnomestones.fun/species. Once you sign up, let me know your thoughts on character creation in the game's group message window.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

You will need discord and a working mic. You can take notes for this game online or on paper, and you can roll using a program or with physical dice. A respectful, group-first mentality is most important!

What SCRAW (Sam) brings to the table

I will use a second webcam to display a simple physical map on discord. Much of the game will be theater of the mind, with the map assisting in combat. This is the primary way that I run campaigns online, and is a lot of fun. You can take notes for this game online or on paper, and you can roll using a program or with physical dice.
