About the adventure
I am Medomai, ageless and deathless, seer of endings: I did foretell the fall of Alephne in watery terror, Mocked by the foolish who say that the voice of the gods is but madness. Great was its ruin, and slaughtered were all who did not heed my warning. Brighter the future I now foretell, of beginnings, not endings: Heroes are coming, who strive against fate’s stern decrees, and who carve their Own bright pathway through history, greater than all mortal yearnings. ~ Theros is the land of great and mighty heroes, capricious gods, and extraordinary tales. For this Odyssey, I invite you to step into a living, breathing world of brilliant culture, fate, and heroism. With Xenagos defeated, Elspeth betrayed by Heliod, and the return of Klothys, Theros is in dire need of those who will fill the gap and save the realms from its own destruction. This adventure will comprise of new and old experiences: we will begin with a Prologue, a means of introducing characters into the vibrant world of Theros and their roles to play in the battlegrounds of the Poleis, the Wilds, and even Nyx itself. Once properly introduced, our adventure will segue into an updated rendition of Against the Cult of the Reptile God, a level 1-3 adventure from classic Advanced Dungeons and Dragons. Beyond this, various adventures included in the Mythic Odysseys of Theros sourcebook, as well as converted adventures from books such as Ghosts of Saltmarsh will be converted into Theros to ensure continued excitement and intrigue. The odyssey shall continue as long as the stories need to be told! The introductory adventure, the Prologue and Against the Cult of the Reptile God, are expected to take between two to six months total. Once the adventure concludes each hero will be asked if they wish to proceed with the heroes and stories they have told, or be able to comfortably retire their adventurers for greener pastures. Come and join me on this fantastic odyssey in one of the grandest of realms, for great deeds and titanic heroism!

Meet the Game Master
About me
• Hello and welcome! I’m Robert, but everyone calls me Riko. It’s great to have you here, and I’d like to go over a bit of who I am and what you can expect from me as a Dungeon Master. To note, I am a CST time zone Dungeon Master, and am available typically from 12 PM CST to 8 PM CST, but I often make time for my players when need be! • Who is Riko? I’ve been running D&D games professionally for about four years, and have been a DM for the past decade now, since 5th edition of D&D released and a bit before with 3.5 edition. Ever since I learned there was a game you could be a powerful necromancer, master of armies and magister supreme, I’ve had a love for the game on a personal level, and once learning of all the stories you can tell with D&D, I fell in love with all of it as a whole. I run modules of 5th edition professionally, but each one of them is heavily changed with enough spice that it feels like a whole new meal to sink your teeth into. Having run adventures from first to twentieth level, I consider myself well informed on the balance and concepts of D&D from head to toe! My adventures are typically high fantasy and with some adventures dark horror, but I find the darkest places are where lights shine brightest, a theme that always holds a place in my heart as a DM. Personally, my favorite part of D&D is our collaborative storytelling. Each character you bring to my table has some fate to unfold, for better or worse, and it’s my job to make sure we get there together! I bring the verisimilitude, and you bring the excitement. Laughing and going over the details of what dangers and excitement we encounter together is what I love most about D&D, and it’s hard to pick a most favorite part! I want to bring you into the worlds and live in them for the time I have you, and get lost somewhere along the way in it all. • What to expect? - Access to most sourcebooks of D&D available on roll20, as well as tools to create exactly the kind of character you’re hoping to bring to life. - Introductory lessons on how to build characters, and tailored pacing of adventuring to ensure maximum chances of success. - Custom made maps designed through Dungeondraft and Inkarnate, to bring the various world crafted to life. - A welcoming space for new players, and for veterans, to co-mingle and take on the challenges of Wizards of the Coast, including hours of expanded, homebrew content to enhance every experience. Players ask me why I do what I do, and I have one simple answer: I love Dungeons and Dragons. I genuinely hope to have you at my tables, and to share that dedication and love I have for the game for a long time to come!
View Profile →Character creation
Creating your character
Characters will begin this adventure at level 1, and are expected to reach level 3 for the planned content. Against the Cult of the Reptile God ends at level 3, reaching that level before the finale. Session 0 will be used to explore character concepts and ideas in great detail, from homelands to preference of deities, to even family ties and reasons for alignments. • Character creation will follow the standard rules. Adventurers will be expected to have and maintain a character sheet in Roll20 to represent basic stats. Adventurers will be permitted to have characters also maintained through D&D Beyond. • Adventurers will be provided access to the Theros sourcebook through Roll20 as well as D&D Beyond to assist in character creation. Adventurers will also be able to create characters using the PHB in Roll20. • For balancing, characters will be created following Standard Array or Point Buy. To ensure a simple, streamlined, and easy game for all skill levels, stats will not be rolled for. • New adventurers to D&D will be given a step-by-step introduction on how to create a character if they require help. • As the adventure will follow expectations set by Wizards of the Coast for the adventuring day, as well as conflicts, players are free to bring minimized or maximized characters to fit their preferred play style. This adventure will reward those who focus on roleplay, are efficient in combat, or both in fair measure. • As Theros is the realm of the gods, respect, fear, or rejection of the gods in some capacity will be expected; those who recant the gods and the entire pantheon will be locked into the Iconoclast character feature. At the conclusion of Against the Cult of the Reptile God, the adventure will continue on as long as the gathered heroes choose to do so. As such, when reaching adventuring milestones such as level 5, 9, and so on, new adventurers will be granted magic items and wealth automatically at character creation to compensate for the challenges they will come up against.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Adventurers are not expected to have a webcam for this adventure, however it is highly requested from the DM to assist all players in engendering familiarity and friendship. However, my tables are a safe space, and no adventurer will be required, at any time, to showcase themselves visually for any reason; adventurers will not be asked to explain their preference for not using a webcam. Adventurers will be required to provide a microphone to this adventure. This adventure will not support play-by-post experiences. If an adventurer's microphone is not functioning for a short period of time, or an entire session, then they will be able to communicate through typing in this circumstance, and will be treated as if they are present if they so choose. Adventurers will be expected to understand the base components of Discord, as both voice and video are going to be utilized for these adventures. It is not expected to use Zoom for this adventure. Adventurers will also be required to have a Roll20 account, as the entirety of the adventure will be hosted through the service. Adventurers who will be using D&D Beyond accounts, which are not required, will however need to have the extension Beyond 20 so all rolls and abilities can be made public in the Roll20 interface.
What Riko brings to the table
Against the Cult of the Reptile God has been completely enhanced and updated from the ground up. The odyssey will feature high definition maps made through Dungeondraft and Forgotten Adventures asset packs, all recreated by me by hand. Additional maps have been made through Inkarnate. Time restrictions for post-game content may require me to pull maps created by other creators, or maps which are unplanned for mid-session based on directions and exploration done by the party. I will always strive to ensure the maps you experience are custom-made to enhance your visual experience. I will be providing voice acting for all characters possible, bringing accents, mannerisms, and so on to provide an extremely immersive experience. I currently have various features for Roll20 and D&D Beyond: • Roll20 includes the PHB, DMG, and the Monster Manual for easy character creation and quickly referencing tools the adventurers may require. Roll20 will also have Mythic Odysseys of Theros to make character creation easier. Other sourcebooks will become included with time. • D&D Beyond will give adventurers access to Mythic Odysseys of Theros if it is not owned. All other sourcebooks are unowned and will require the adventurer to have purchased them for themselves if they require more content; this will change over time to include more sourcebooks. • Dynamic Lighting and thematic music are a major aspect of gameplay provided at this table. Music will be curated to accentuate themes of the adventure, and Dynamic Lighting will provided atmosphere and understanding of the complex rules of Dungeons and Dragons light mechanics! As a dungeon master with mental health difficulties and a part of the LGBTQ+ community, I will bring empathy and understanding to all who play, and request that empathy and understanding in turn.

How Riko creates a safe table
• The adventure is geared towards all experience levels. • This adventure, and table, will have strict requirements to respect LGBTQ+ communities. Unsafe spaces will not be tolerated. • All sourcebooks will be available except for joke books such as Acquisitions Incorporated, and this table will not feature or present Critical Role content for player use, such as subclasses and/or races. • Theros has racial restrictions for those who are native to the plane. Adventurers who create characters who are not part of the racial restrictions will require their backstories to involve other planes of existence and to explain how they arrived in Theros. • Theros includes Supernatural Gifts as boons each character receives for how they interact with the world. Every character will be expected to take a Supernatural Gift as a free pseudo-feat at level 1, with some upgrading along the adventure. Characters not native to Theros will not receive Supernatural Gifts, as they are boons only bestowed upon those originating from the plane. • The Piety system will play a heavy role in this adventure, gaining and losing favor of the gods of Theros through actions and words.
