About the adventure

The introductory adventure module Lost Mine of Phandelver quickly established itself as one of the more beloved 5e modules. What I offer here is a mix of Lost Mines and the Dragon of Icespire Peak, another module taking place in the same area. Combining these two creates new story opportunities, fixes some small problems found in the originals, and gives a fresh experience for anyone who might have played through Lost Mines before. A dwarf by the name of Gundren Rockseeker has hired you to bring a wagonload of provisions to the rough-and-tumble settlement of Phandalin, a couple of days' travel southeast of the city of Neverwinter. However, once you arrive to town, you'll find it terrorized by several different threats, most severe of them being a young white dragon. Will you be the heroes to rid the town of these dangers? I am running this game for free in preparation for running paid games in the future. Even though it's free, I'll do my best to give the players the experience of a paid game. All I ask in return is constructive feedback and a review on my profile once the game has wrapped up.

About me

Greetings and salutations my dice rolling friends. A passionate and (nearly) lifelong lover of roleplaying games is looking to maybe make a bit of money out of his favorite hobby. Will he succeed, who knows? Time will tell. I'll be upfront, English is not my native tongue. But I consider myself fluent with it, enough so that only communication problems should come from my strong accent and the occasional moment of me being a mushmouth. It should only take a session or two to get used to though, so fear not. I pride myself on my ability to improvise and think quickly under pressure when it comes to my games. While modules are great fun, sure, I prefer to run homebrew games or to take parts of published modules and mold them to fit my homebrew ideas, or just shamelessly steal maps from them. I have an extensive list of house rules for my games, designed to streamline character creation, fix some pet peeves of mine, and to give a bit of a boost to certain classes WotC didn't pay enough attention to. My table is open to anyone and everyone. I don't believe in excluding anyone, provided everyone can can follow my one ironclad, non-negotiable rule: be excellent to each other. If you think you can manage that, you're welcome. See you at the game.

Character creation

Creating your character

The game will start at level 2. Once you're in the game, you will receive an invitation to a Discord server with further instructions on character creation. Players are expected to create their own characters prior to the start of the game, but I will be available to help should you require it. Characters will be made in Roll20 with the built in sheets.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

You will need a Discord account, as well as one on Roll20, both of which are free. You will also need a decent microphone and a space to play with minimal background noises You'll need to create a character prior to the start of the game, but I'm available to help with the process if needed. A PC/laptop is also required for play. Both Discord and Roll20 can be used with a mobile device, but Roll20's mobile version is basically useless.

What Artturi Nummelin brings to the table

I will provide features proved by the Roll20 Plus subscription, as well as detailed maps for the VTT, distinct tokens for NPCs and enemies, and ambient music to set the mood. While I mostly stick to the rules as written, I'm willing to go with the Rule of Cool if the players come up with something clever or creative. I also have an extensive list of house rules for my games, but they're mostly quality-of-life improvements and small buffs for classes that should have been there in the first place.

Safety

How Artturi Nummelin creates a safe table

We will have a 10 minute break halfway through the session for bio breaks, stretching your legs, getting a drink, etc.
