About the adventure
Halcyon City is a sprawling metropolis famous across the world for the huge number of Superhumans and Powerful Entities it's home to. But with that many Heroes and Villains in an enclosed space, it's hard for someone to make a name for themselves - especially teenage superheroes like yourselves. But if you save the right civilians, get trending with the right influencers, and get flashy when you win superfights, you might have a shot at the big leagues. Surely nothing will go wrong chasing the limelight, right? - Play as a teen with superhuman abilities, powerful tech, or simply a drive to make a name for yourself as a hero! - Face off against veteran villains and sinister upstarts alike! - Butt heads with other up-and-coming heroes jockeying for the same limelight that you are! - Earn the respect of adults...or blow them off and prove to them you're better!
Due to timezone reasons, game sessions currently start and end an hour later than what is listed (eg, if it says 7PM CST, they're actually starting at 8PM CST). Our current players are using The Transformed, The Newborn, The Beacon, and The Outsider. The only other playbooks off the table are The Joined, The Harbinger, and The Innocent. The game has a vibe of "we're on the outskirts of what's cool, but we're gonna prove our worth!"

How to prepare
A webcam is not necessary, but make sure you have a working mic - onboard laptop mics are fine because we're not recording anything, we just need to be able to hear you properly. Have a character concept in mind so you're not starting from scratch, but don't get too detailed quite yet - your idea might cross somebody's lines, or you might be inspired to change things to fit in with other people's ideas for the world.
What I provide
I have PDFs of all official Masks rulebooks and playbooks, which I'll be sharing with everyone. I also have character sheets custom-made for each playbook that all players are free to copy, fill, and edit at their leisure. I've set up a private discord with a dice bot that we can use to take care of all rolls and messages.
Gameplay details
We'll use Session 0 to establish Lines and Veils first, which will be kept in a document that everyone has access to and can be updated at any time, whether by the players or by me if a player would rather keep which items they're noting anonymous. During gameplay you can either say "X-Card" or "I need a break" out loud or pop it in the chat and we'll pause or rewind as needed. I rarely get into topics intense enough that you might need them, but they're always on the table - including for myself!

How will character creation work
While this isn't a beginner-only game, any experience level is welcome and I'm happy to explain the rules to anybody who needs them in session zero, and throughout the game if needed. Character creation will also be done during session zero. We'll build the world we're playing in along with the characters - your backstory, relationship, influences, and how the team comes together will all play a part in the setting of this game and could potentially ripple out to effect other characters too. Anyone who has ideas for specific landmarks, superhuman-related events, or big-name superheroes is welcome to share and incorporate them into the world as well.
