Power Rangers : Fractured Grid

Power Rangers : Fractured Grid

Power Rangers Roleplaying Game | Campaign

About the adventure

It's been 30 years since the Power Rangers perished protecting Angel Grove taking Rita and Zed with them. The Rangers may have defeated an apocalyptic duo, but their absence left the city defenseless. The ever-present Zeo crystal that lay miles beneath the town's very soil made the port city a target to other monsters that sought the life-creating or destroying crystal that hummed happily slumbering deep within its fossilized cradle. Our Rangers will be older, college-age ideally all students but exceptions can always be made, late teens to 20-21. They will be "tropey" as the game intends but also in a darker world. Think the 2017 movie. Angel Grove is in a terrible state. After the frequent monster attacks, those who could flee did. Many however were stuck mostly those who could not afford to leave their homes or livelihoods. Perhaps it was the force of will of the town's community and the lingering hope that new rangers would be called to protect the city. Perhaps, that is what kept Angel Grove alive. The military did what they could to protect the town and its civilians but it was only a matter of time before a threat just as dangerous descended upon the city. For those of you who were unfortunate enough to grow up here the Tornado Siren-like alert system while infrequent in youth seemed to be growing ever more frequent. The high school was in almost monthly safety lockdown while tanks rolled down the streets a stark contrast to their peaceful if not a bit bruised suburban surroundings. In College, the blaring alert came almost weekly. The threats were getting bigger and the town more than ever prayed for heroes that may never come. It was now that families were beginning to hedge their bets and cut their losses. A new wave of for sale signs began to pepper the windows of houses and shops that had already been abandoned with no real hope of buyers. If you moved to Angel Grove now it was either because there was no better option or your parents were in the military or some sort of scientific field that studied either the dormant Crystal Rita so desperately wanted or the Grid itself in a bid to call forth new heroes or at the very least save Angel Grove from becoming a memory.

Game style

Roleplay Heavy

“Roleplay Heavy” games place the focus on the story, the characters, and the world they live within, and tend to lean hard into the various roleplaying elements of the game. These games will frequently find the party talking with NPCs, exploring the personal elements of their backstories, or even having emotional moments around the camp fire.

Rules as Written (RaW)

Games that are ran “Rules as Written” emphasize realism and stick to the letter of the rules, allowing players to explore creative solutions while still operating under a consistent rule set. Players have the ability to utilize the rules in creative ways to create awesome characters and moments in the game.

Additional details

How to prepare

Bring yourselves and a willingness to communicate frequently before session 1. I'm looking forward to hearing from you Rangers. Angel Grove needs you! Obviously at least voice but I will likely be using both voice and video through zoom or Discord. Also a Roll20 account will be necessary but a free one is absolutely fine.

What I provide

While the price may seem high there are many things this fee will cover. I will be using roll20 with a massive library of tokens and maps including numerous modern sets for games just like this as well as making custom maps as needed. If you want to design every inch of your characters house we can do it! I will also make use of Adobe After Effects and Photoshop for custom content to suit our needs. This will include thematic videos that will serve as recaps of the game, custom tokens, art, music, and visual aids/references. I also have a subscription to a high-quality stock art and video website to aid in the development of this custom content. In between sessions I will host play-by-post (responding at your leisure)/ downtime RP scenes. These will help to further build relationships with NPCs and for your Character to prepare for the next actual play session. These will typically not be progressing the main story and are entirely optional. I just like the idea of occasionally taking a peak at what our character has been up to? It helps the game world feel alive and always in motion and helps to pass the time between sessions. I enjoy writing. I love to roleplay. I hope to create an experience that feels persistent and one you won't soon forget!

Gameplay details

I'm an outgoing and kind person. I'm totally soft, hence I work in animal medicine. Healer class all the way. Your safety, comfort, and enjoyment are my utmost priority. The X card will be available but I hope not to tread through anything too dark, this is a Power Rangers Game after all! I will also have lines and veils and stars and wishes forms available. Just remember I am always open to communication and never once feel like you can't voice a concern the moment you have it. My tables will always be safe places for all.

How will character creation work

This will happen during one of the many conversations we will have leading up to session one and potentially not only 1 but numerous session zeroes and countless questions from me about who your character is. I like to have all the NPC's, tokens, and Imagery specific to your PCs prepped and ready for session 1. That will take your input and collaboration. I love collaborating. Bring me your favorite ideas and lets see what we can come up with! All of my work leading up to session one will be free of charge and hopefully aid in you becoming just as excited and invested as me. You will only be charged when we are ready to begin play and our session 1 is scheduled. I would prefer having the table full before we start and at least 1 week to work with any late joiners.
