Creating your character

🆓Free Session 0: Character creation will take place during our free Session 0. This session is an excellent opportunity to ensure that you, I, and the other players are a good fit for each other. It also allows us to establish strong connections between your character, the world, and the other players, enhancing immersion and enjoyment. 🐲DnDBeyond Campaign: We’ll use a dedicated campaign on DnDBeyond, where you’ll have access to all of my purchased sourcebooks and material. This provides a rich array of options for character creation and development. ⛔Character Limitations: There are a few character limitations to ensure balance and fit within the campaign setting. I’ll explain these limitations during our Session 0 and help you navigate them to create a character that is both exciting and compatible with the campaign. 🤝Collaborative Development: I’m here to support you in crafting a character with a compelling backstory and clear motivations. Our goal is to integrate your character deeply into the narrative, making your role in the adventure both engaging and impactful.

Preparing for the session

You will require a Microphone You should create an account on DnDBeyond Have a read of the DnD5e Rules Players should Download Discord and Join the Server provided in your messages. Once joined, take a look at the provided sourcebook and have a think about what kind of character you would like to play! I'm happy to have a conversation at any time. (Apart from when I'm at my day job!)

🎲Foundry VTT & DnDBeyond: I use Foundry Virtual Tabletop and DnDBeyond, equipped with a wide array of sourcebooks to enhance your gaming experience. 🔊Dedicated Discord Server: You'll have access to a dedicated Discord server for seamless communication and coordination with your fellow players. 🌎Ongoing World Development: I’m committed to keeping the conversation alive about the world and your characters’ interactions within it. I've created a dynamic sourcebook for the world that will evolve as your actions and decisions shape the setting. ✔️Immersive Experience: While I’m not a professional voice actor, I strive to enhance immersion with distinctive character voices and optional ambient music during sessions. 🔥Rule of Cool: I prioritize creativity and fun with a "rule of cool" approach, allowing for dynamic and exciting storytelling over strict adherence to rules. 🎥Cinematic Combat & RP Focus: Expect sessions rich in roleplay with cinematic and flexible combat encounters. I aim to make battles intense and satisfying, giving you the freedom to explore your character’s tactical prowess and create memorable moments. 🧝‍♀️Characters will start at 3rd Level. You can build your character with point buy or standard array. Characters take standard starting equipment. Characters can take one uncommon item and an additional feat at start of game. Characters may also use the Tasha’s rules for Character Creation. (Extended Spell lists etc) 🚫Restricted Options There are a few restrictions to what you can and cannot play in Hertrend. The following species are not available: Gith Centaur Changeling Kenku Certain Species will be slightly different, for example Fairies will be Medium creatures who are more akin to Elves from the Faewild than small flighty creatures. Please do ask. 🚫Restricted Class Options Peace Clerics are the only thing I’m not wholly fond of running. Please try and keep your characters as an official class or anything from Matt Mercer’s books. I’m willing to look at Homebrew subclasses, but would prefer official material.

How Thea Rose creates a safe table

0️⃣Session 0: Before we dive into the game, we hold a Session 0. This initial meeting allows us to discuss the campaign’s themes, establish expectations, and set boundaries. It’s a collaborative space to outline what everyone is comfortable with and to address any concerns before the adventure begins. ⛩️Lines and Veils: During Session 0, we use Lines and Veils to define what content is off-limits (Lines) and what we can include but will handle with sensitivity (Veils). This ensures that everyone’s boundaries are respected and that we avoid topics that could make players uncomfortable. ❌X Cards: Throughout the game, we have X Cards available. If something in the game becomes uncomfortable or crosses a boundary, any player can simply tap the X Card to signal that they’d like to pause or adjust the scene. This tool provides a discreet way to address issues immediately. ⏯️Breaks: Regular breaks are integrated into our sessions to give everyone a chance to rest, check in with each other, and discuss any issues that might have arisen. It’s an opportunity to step away from the game if needed and come back refreshed. 🩹Aftercare: After each session, we take time for Aftercare. This is a chance to discuss how everyone felt about the game, address any lingering concerns, and offer support if needed. It helps ensure that everyone leaves the session feeling positive and heard. ⏪Debriefing: In our Debriefing, we review the session together, discussing what worked well and what might need adjustment. It’s a constructive way to gather feedback and continuously improve our gaming experience. 🌠Stars and Wishes: At the end of each session, we use Stars and Wishes. Players share what they enjoyed (Stars) and what they hope to see in future sessions (Wishes). This feedback helps me tailor the game to everyone’s preferences and ensures that the adventure remains enjoyable for all.
