About the adventure

“Nothing has been the same since the professor died, no disrespect, but you folk brought darkness here.” You calmly try to sip your glass of local potato liquor; this is no place for anger… “Leave ‘em be; that lot saved a bunch around here….” “Saved, saved from what? The ghosts, the magic wolves, and the hooded wizards that were all just whispered about before? This lot, this lot, they brought those things out. Out to see the strangers, to terrorize us, to get a look at the strangers.” The more you save, the more who blame you for needing saving. Maybe it was time to be done with this bleak land, and perhaps it was time to go home. But then again, would the whispering cultist follow you home or even further? Welcome to the Carrion Crown, a horror/monster hunter campaign initially written for Pathfinder's first edition. A campaign of terror, ghosts, and superstitions.

Recruiting notes

I am looking at September 24th for a starting date. I welcome all players, including BIPOC and LGBT players and I expect players to also be welcoming.

Additional details

How to prepare

Players should create characters, read the player’s guide, and enjoy some thematic literature, film, or music. From a software standpoint, players should have access to discord, a Roll20 account, and the Archives of Nethys (https://aonprd.com/). For hardware, players need a computer, a microphone (that can be muted), and speakers.

What I provide

First and foremost, I will bring the original Pathfinder module converted into Roll20. In addition, I get custom tokens from Heroforge, and lovingly crafted custom maps. I also bring colorful NPCs and a love of roleplaying.

Gameplay details

This game will have a gothic horror/monster hunter theme to it. Characters are expected to save a superstitious and untrusting but innocent nation from the terrors of the night. Expect enemies from nineteenth-century horror stories and Hammer films. In Session 0, we will discuss content warnings, and you will be asked to complete a survey about your lines and veils.

How will character creation work

Although I will have several iconic monster-hunting characters for people to use as pre-gens, one of the great joys of role-playing is creating a character and watching them grow over time. I strongly recommend players create their own character. All characters should have a connection to a famous Monster-hunting professor, Petros Lorrimor. You will be allowed to create characters using the Character Guide for the Carrion Crown, which I can provide.
