About the adventure
'Phandelver and Below: The Shattered Obelisk' is an epic adventure that brings you to the iconic town of Phandalin in the Forgotten Realms - The journey begins with a re-imagining of the classic D&D starter adventure 'The Lost Mine of Phandelver' but pushes onwards to reveal sinister forces at work which place the very existence of Faerûn at risk Nestled on the northern Sword Coast, between Neverwinter Wood and the Sword Mountains, is the town of Phandalin. Centuries ago, Phandalin was a thriving settlement with deep ties to its neighboring communities. But then bandits overran the town, and Phandalin lay abandoned for centuries. Only in the past few years have settlers built a new village on the ruins of the old. These townsfolk hope to grow Phandalin through hard work, camaraderie, and the shared purpose of building a lasting home. Threatening their efforts and their survival are bandits, brigands, and monsters - as well as an ancient artifact that has awaken from its slumber, casting a shroud of mystery and danger waiting to be uncovered... The region surrounding Phandalin is thus a sitting goldmine of unclaimed land, unexplored ruins, and undiscovered treasure. A new frontier of adventure awaits you - whether you are completely new to D&D, or any range of experience, this adventure will take you from the humble beginnings of level 1 and into the glory of a mighty hero forged by fire.

How to prepare
In-game requirements: Character Backstory, sheet, description, and character visual representation (Art/token). Outside Requirements: The Forge account (free), Discord account, Microphone and Headset, browser with hardware acceleration support. (Chrome, Firefox, Opera, Edge, etc.)
What I provide
I will be hosting the FoundryVTT game through my personal Forge server, with all required sheets, tokens, music, SFX, handouts, etc.
Gameplay details
I want all my players to have a good time and be comfortable above all. Session 0 will serve to discuss the lines and veils of what additional boundaries players wish to set, but keep in mind that this also applies beyond session 0! I am always open to additional discussion during the campaign, and adjusting accordingly. This is a welcoming table, and I am always willing to work together to be as inclusive as possible. :)

How will character creation work
I like to divide character creation into two categories, thematically and mechanically. ------------------------------------------------ - Level 1 starting point, Standard Point Buy System (27) - Free Starting Feat - Standard racial modifiers or Tasha's Customizing Origin (Variant Human & Custom *Lineage* not allowed for balance reasons since they also have an additional starter feat.) - Basic starting equipment + 15 gold budget for additional equipment. (provided to you by your employer) - All official WoTC 5e material sources allowed, and homebrew is up for DM approval after discussion (i.e. Matt Mercer's Bloodhunter, Keith Baker's Eberron Expanded, etc. ------------------------------------------------ As for the thematic category of character creation, I hope this provides you with enough info to get the creative juices flowing!: This adventure's starting plothook comes from an independent group of arcane researchers and scholars: The Eos Collective! An organization comprised of academics in pursuit of knowledge and uncovering the mysteries of the world, they wish to establish a presence in the region immediately and support the resurgence of Phandalin, hoping to study the uncharted region and learn much from its ancient and lost history. As such, they have put out an adventurer contract which you answered, offering a hefty and stable paycheque for providing your assistance in their exploration & building efforts. So what's your backstory, stranger? Perhaps you joined for no other reason than coin, or perhaps you too share the Eos Collective's yearning curiosity for the great unchartered frontiers. Maybe you have existing ties to Phandalin and personally wish to see it return to its former glory... The possibilities are endless, so build your character now and join the party at the edge of the Sword Coast!
