The One Ring: Return to Moria
The One Ring 2e | Campaign
About the adventure
FREE FIRST SESSION! ALLOWING YOU TO LEARN THE SETTING AND SYSTEM STRESS FREE! _______________________________________________________________________ "We have barred the gates. Drums...drums...in the deep..." Before the destruction of the One Ring. Before the journey of the Fellowship. After the battle of five armies and the desolation of the fire drake Smaug! The race of dwarves have retaken the sacred stronghold of Erebor, the Lonely Mountain, claiming their home by right and becoming the seat of the Folk of Durin! But for Durin's folk, this is not their ancestral abode, and some still yearn to take back their true refuge! Deep beneath the Misty Mountains, under earth and stone and amongst flowing veins of mithril is what Durin's line yearns for: Dwarrowdelf. Khazad-Dum. The Mines of Moria! Once the greatest of dwarves cities is now overrun by goblins, orcs and all manner of foul things that lurk in the shadows. Creatures that drove the dwarves from the Misty Mountains, creating a longing in Durin's line which could not be sated! Now there are whispers... Rumours that there are those of Durin's folk that wish to take back the Mines of Moria, to destroy what remains of the Enemy that exists beneath the Misty Mountains. They cannot do this alone! * Join an epic quest, delving into the deepest pit of Moria to claim back the inheritance of the dwarves and seek your rewards! * Using the One Ring 2E system, create a hero worthy of song as you take on J.R.R.Tolkien's Middle Earth! * Forge your own path in this tense and dramatic campaign set before the main trilogy as you take back Khazad-Dum in the name of the dwarves! Beware however. For there are darker horrors than orcs and goblins that lurk in Moria's grand halls.... "We cannot get out. A shadow moves in the Dark. We cannot get out..."

The fact that this platform generally revolves around people leaving only five star reviews is frustrating, it precludes people like Mike who put in astronomically more effort than others from getting any extra notice! The system we're playing is Lancer, though he runs a lot of other game systems, and the things that make Lancer great are also the things that make Lancer very difficult to run well for a lot of GMs, but he really rises to meet all the criteria. For that reason I would feel comfortable recommending him for any other system as well. The games have great narrative moments, great combat variety, the use of Foundry for AV stuff is top notch (sessions have an intro and outro music as well as your typical battle music!), you can tell he wants everyone to have their moment to shine. Combat seems very well balanced, and that's incredibly difficult in a Lancer game with 6 PCs. He's very easygoing, gentle, the teacher / educator background is shining through in all the best ways. Simply can't recommend enough, well worth the price.
An Amazing GM Who Brings the Game to Life. GM Mike is hands down one of the best Game Masters I’ve ever played with. His world-building is incredible, his storytelling is top-tier, and he gives players so much room to be creative. Even when I came up with wacky ideas—he rolls with it and makes it work in a way that feels natural and exciting. The game is always well-organized, and everything runs smoothly without feeling scripted. There’s a perfect balance between structure and freedom, so you never feel railroaded but also never lost. The NPCs feel real, Mike's knowledge of the lore is deep, and every session has those unforgettable moments that stick with you. If you get the chance to play in one of his games, do it. You’ll get an amazing story, a world that reacts to your choices, and a GM who truly knows how to make the game fun for everyone. 10/10, would adventure again!
Up in the double digits of sessions now and being part of Mike's sessions has been a blast. Theater of the mind is descriptive enough to paint you a clear picture of the scene and the people therein, choice of music has been bringing a great air to the scenes, and the fostering between the players and him, not just the characters, has legitimately made these sessions a fun experience. Like a group of friends getting together for a game.
