About the adventure
Crae'Acros is a homebrew world set in a high fantasy setting with tons of people, places, and stories to explore. There is no "set game module" here, but rather I cater directly to the characters my players create and tailor a specific story for the group that heavily utilizes their backstories as compelling B-plots to the main story (though they occasionally act as A-plots). As far as the game itself, I will always have a Session 0 to get everyone's characters set and comfortable in the world (more on that in the Details). I also will always go over any topics and/or themes my players do not want to include in their campaign, for this world has the capacity to include many, *many* things. Most importantly, my campaigns are primarily focused on story and roleplay. Rarely will I have "throw away combat" where the party will kill 10-20 goblins just to kill them. Instead, combat will always have a purpose in driving the story forward, and combat against mini-bosses and big bad bosses will be favored. To that point, there will be sessions where there is no combat, and that is completely fine; I encourage my players to investigate all angles they wish, gather as much lore as they wish, and talk to all the NPCs they wish.

About me
I am a creative writer, a gamer, and a Dungeon Master who has 15 years of experience consuming stories across all mediums, and 7 years of experience telling my own stories both large and small as a Novelist and Dungeon Master. So, if you want a Dungeons & Dragons campaign filled with compelling storytelling and focused on your narrative decisions as players, look no further. While I can run games in the standard D&D universe, and even various game universes like World of Warcraft or League of Legends, I specialize in Epic Fantasy and Historical Fantasy, using two homebrewed worlds that I have already created (and continue to mold through the actions of my players), and they are plenty big enough for more people :). If you are fans of the way DMs like Brennan Lee Mulligan, Matt Mercer, and Abria Iyengar run their campaigns, then you are probably going to fall right into the way I run mine, as they are three of my greatest inspirations. Player agency and narrative development (for each and every PC) matter most in my games, so if you're looking for all that and to experience the whole emotional spectrum over the course of a single campaign, then I will happily oblige you!

Creating your character
For character creation, I usually go for standard array, though I always give my players the option to roll for their stats if they want (though *everyone* in the group will have to agree on rolling for stats to do it). The world is homebrew, so I will work with each and every player to craft a character that makes sense both narratively and mechanically.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
All players should have a webcam and mic. All players should have DnDBeyond account (can sign up for free). All players should have a Discord account. Send me a message on Discord (my username is Bazbirttwo) and be sure to introduce yourself and let me know you discovered me through StartPlaying! And lastly, all players should think about what race/class combo they want to play.
What Shane brings to the table
I primarily utilize DnDBeyond for character creation and theater of the mind for most things. Sometimes I utilize battle maps if there are too many characters to keep track of during a fight.

How Shane creates a safe table
Players can expect a strong emphasis on storytelling and roleplaying. I always host a free Session 0 for my groups to get everything ready to jump into my homebrew world. That means we'll be going my general playstyle and everyone's character creations. I want all my players to feel like their characters have existed and will continue to exist in this world, and I want to take the time to craft a wonderful backstory with each and every player. I also will always go over what topics and themes players don't want to see in my campaigns so I can take care to avoid them.
