An Entangle of Desire and Greed (First session free)
City of Mist | Campaign
About the adventure
Step into the city and become a rift between reality and fantasy. Explore the wonders of this world, brimming with people and places bathed in magic, hidden from the common eye by the mist enveloping the entire city. Embark with your group of private investigators, gang members, gang of kids, knights of the order, company men, conspiracy busters, or any other ensemble. Forge your legend and unravel the mysteries shrouded beneath the mist. City of Mist is a noir-inspired cinematic TTRPG where ordinary individuals (your characters) harness the powers of legends—be they a person, being, item, or location from any story, mythology, legend, folklore, fairytale, literary work, urban legend, religious tale, concept, or real-world event. There are no limits to the stories from which your character draws their powers. In this campaign, we'll begin with an exposition session (our version of a session 0) where I'll assist you in crafting a compelling concept for your character. Together, we'll explore details that tie each character to the world: how you all come together, your collective purpose, and the type of game and story you wish to experience. Following that, we'll delve into a day in the life of your characters, playing a brief session to set the stage for the rest of your story. If the campaign is already underway, upon joining, I'll provide you with all pertinent information about the campaign's direction and what to anticipate. Regarding the "first session free" offer, both the session 0 and your initial session are complimentary. If you join a campaign already in progress, you'll receive one free session.
Game style
Theater of the Mind
“Theater of the Mind” uses little to no visuals for scene settings and combat. Instead, the narrative imagery comes from the Game Master’s descriptions and character action and movement comes from Players’ descriptions.
This is the second season of an ongoing campaign but we are open to new players. The story up until this point has followed a pair of "cleaners" that got themselves tangled up in the struggle for a dangerous substance called DRYAD which altered the structure of anything it touched to a mush of organic vegetative material that extended to anything that touched. Now, after getting rid of it in a space that transcends time they will have to see what the consequences of their action may entail and what new personalities they will meet.

R0boto0 is a very passionate GM and you can feel the excitement as you play through one of his adventures. He takes the time to customise the foundry experience to makes sure to fix any issues that arise. He does voices, he alters the speed and tone of his voice when describing action. Great GM and i'd recommend playing with him! Unfortunately we are in crazy different timezones and my life commitments just kept clashing with the game time.
Robo is a passionate GM. Going in to city of mist for a proper full campaign I was not disappointed. Robo comes with scen-apropriate music, as well as incorporating every players backstories. He is a great teacher and remains calm and explains stuff, even if a player flies off the handle. Respect right there as I know it can be difficult sometimes. His love for world building is evident by the fact that he takes core parts of different quests and makes them permanent fixtures throughout the city, fleshing it out more. Hes willing to improv when required and even will bring in totally new locations on the spot if your character wants to go there. Provided it makes sense in-game of course, as it should be. He is friendly and doesn't hold resentment for anyone at his table. However, there are three things that, as a fellow professional gm, I feel need to be pointed out; session length, spotlight time, and price. 1. Session length for his city of mist games are 3 hours. This clock usually starts when we actually begin interacting in the game world, not when everyone sits down. This is good. It clearly shows that Robo wants the players to play for the time they pay for. However I personally feel like 3 hours is too short for most TTRPGs. We currently have five players total in our game and so, assuming that every minute of the session is solely dedicated to characters being in the spotlight, each player would still only get roughly 36 minutes each. Again, that's only if we all completely ignore the quests and any DM narrative required stuff the whole session. This leads me to my next point. 2. Spotlight time. This is where the session length very often becomes a lose-lose situation. If we spend the whole session doing quests together then there's no issue. Everything goes smoothly. However, when characters want to have rp moments then things tend to fall apart a bit. Robot wants to keep the story moving and give everyone time in the spotlight. This is good! The problem is, he's very over-zealous about doing this, and often times tries to force a hard cut-off, making assumptions of when the player is done so he can move to the next player. This often leads the players to expect robo to come back to them, only for another players actions to push the calender forward and forcing the first players actions to come to an end. This often leads to the players silently fighting eachother over control of the camera during most of the session. The solution to this, I fully believe, is to make the sessions 4 hours long. Or to make the party size limit 3-4. Certainly not 6. 3. The pricing. Bluntly, I haven't found any GM that is worth $27 dollars a week, including myself. The standards I have for a $110 month subscription are astronomical, as I feel they should be. Robo is very lenient about late payments which is a grace many GMs do not give, however with the shortcomings mentioned before I think a more fair price would be something closer to the market standard minimum of $15. Are his games fun? Yes. Will I continue to pay for and play the one I'm in? Yes. However, do I feel like some changes need to be made? Yes.

How to prepare
Microphone is obligatory and camera is optional. The players should have a discord account in order to get into the server. You do not need an account for Foundry, I will give you the link to join the game when we play. Until then you can write down your concepts and ideas before we start session 0 and/or character creation.
What I provide
I will bring premade characters, FoundryVTT(The virtual tabletop we are going to use to play), ambient music, complex social and combat scenarios, integration of your backstory into the story, and help with creating your character: both the sheet and an image to represent it. I also have the PDFs of the player's guide, the MC toolkit, the shadows and showdowns expansion, the Nights of Payne Town book(that contains tons of prewritten cases), and the new Local legends expansion.
Gameplay details
For "Lines and Veils" and "Stars and Wishes" there will be a section in a public journal for players to state their preferences, limits and wishes. For how X, N and O cards will be implemented, at any point through the game you can type either X, N or O to express your feelings to the rest of the players. In the rare case that no one takes notice for one reason or the other you can DM me on discord and I should hear the notification. If none of that works or if you prefer it so, you can speak out loud your concerns of the direction that the game is taking. All of the content warning are just things that can come up but can also be taken out by Lines or veils.

How will character creation work
If the campaign has not started then character creation will be done during the exposition session. You can have a concept beforehand but I don't recommend building a complete character before the session. After the exposition if you have any changes you want to make to your character you can make them but first notify them to me and the group so any change makes sense with what we stablished in the exposition session. If the campaign has already started I would personally guide you through the process of creating your character at convenient time for both of us. In both of the previous cases I have some premade characters that you will be able to pick up if that is what you prefer.
