About the adventure

A titular engaging experience for new and old players alike, Dragons of Stormwreck Isle boasts a different Dragon to slay than the run of the mill White Dragon from Icespire Peak. The replacement to the starter set for fifth edition, it works well for all experiences of play. The conflict of the Chromatic and Metallic Dragons extends to the smallest and greatest corners of the worlds where Dragons roam, and this Isle is no different as legend of a great Red Dragon lurking in the depths below the Isle surface much like the volcanic activity beneath the body of land fed hatred from the attrition of ages of Draconic fury. This adventure is on the shorter side, only running a few levels, and is perfect for players who don't want to dive into something long term, but still meet more than once. Levels 1-3, it can easily become something longer with help of the other adventures. All games will feature a recap written out in short story format, and be posted on Techno's Toril Tales on World Anvil alongside the other games. Should folks desire to use this campaign tool as well, we can onboard that, but accounts are free and this is optional for players of Blue, Black, and White Hunter's Games. Inquiries Welcome! Tug at the strings of fate with me.

Additional details

How to prepare

Webcam - Optional. Both of my cameras will be used to facilitate the board for combat/exploration with Hybrid games, but I will probably have it on for Virtual games. It is not a requirement if it makes you uncomfortable. Mics - Required. With the delay of response that virtual already provides it can sometimes be difficult (in combat especially) to pace through it quickly. Discord is nice because you can always use a phone, but a quiet environment in the background (as much as you can) will help with engagement, ambiance, and everyone’s enjoyment as well. Rules - If this is referring to Player's Handbook Rules in the question then yes. This is needed. Even if you don't fully understand all of the content, please give it a thorough reading before Session 0 or starting. You don't need to memorize the whole of the book, but at least make sure you know how to play what you're playing. Questions are always okay during gameplay too. Think about it like this, if you don't know what is happening, then how can your character? Characters - I will not guarantee all premade characters, but please confirm items, and characters with me at least on the same day as play unless we have a morning game, then I will need it the night before at the latest. Software - Discord and DnD Beyond either via Mobile or Browser. We will discuss DnD Beyond in slightly more detail during Session 0, and will have Session 0 in Discord. Both apps are free, and with DnD Beyond, as long as you have less than 6 active characters, you do not need a sub and will be able to access my purchased content for your character creation. World Anvil - Optional, but recommended. World Anvil is a campaign manager and world builder tool that I have been using for a couple years now and it has really helped me to make sense of the many facets of the many games and stories I am running and want to run and write in the future. You can sync characters and engage with the story in another way! RP and Comfort - Role Playing through Summarization or through actual role play is fine by me. Do what you are comfortable with. Above all else this is a group gaming experience and should be seen as such. Trust and understanding will help us all have a good time and get the value that comes from the amazing game. Backstories - I love detailed backstories, tragic, romantic, comedic, the works. I also think that some people can easily get overwhelmed at the concept of having to make one. I will always press on the side of more vs less backstory, but I think the preparation of backstories come in knowing that you don't have to show up, and throw up all of the backstory when you introduce yourself to people - as the stigma seems to indicate, and that other people exist in your past, so make supporting characters for me to use lol! Backstories are developed and shared as you come to understand your character more though, and that might take time, so whatever your speed, skill, or detail - Backstories!

What I provide

PHYSICALLY/HYBRIDLY. Though I probably won’t run many In Person or Hybrid games right now, the possibility stands and the opportunity shared: Several Different Expo Maps and assorted items to build an outline at least of the map for exploration and combat. Small Collection of Figurines that will grow as payments allow. These and other items will facilitate enemies and player's tokens as they move about the board: Clear AoE Template, Condition Rings, Horses, Flying Platforms, Some of the Spell Figures, etc. VIRTUALLY. A Desktop and Laptop to help unionize content during play. Logitech Auto Focusing Webcam for face or overhead view, and a smaller tripod camera that can be used for rolls or to sit on the table. Gaming Headset and Podcast Mic for clear audio quality. Stable Internet Connection for Hosting Utilizing a few different tools currently including: Customized Discord for games, D&D Beyond & Maps Alpha, Avrae Rolling Bot, Owlbear Rodeo, and World Anvil - Campaign and World Manager. Learning a few different tools currently including: Talespire, Foundry VTT, and Dungeon Alchemist, as well as building implementations of Kenku FM, and a handful others. ADDITIONALLY. Collection of 5E Books, Several Humble Bundle Virtual Map Packs & Adventures, a growing handful of supplemental books from various artists: including but not limited to: all of the Printed 5E Creature and Spell Cards and bonus Druid Wild Shape Cards, Monster Tactics, Random Dungeon Outlines, NPC's, Random Encounters, Spell Flair, and more for both in person facilitation and to spark inspiration for side quest content players might want to explore. CONCEPTUALLY. Outside of the things and the tech, I bring a humble curiosity as a Business and Writing School Graduate from Portland State University. My recent realization of certain truths led me here to be a weaver of play, stories, and connection. I am a budding novelist, with goals to start my own publishing company amongst others, and a distinct desire to use my many talents to connect people in the many mediums that exist to do so in life. A Recovered people pleaser, a light projector infused with a comfortable mix of the order of Mechanus and the chaos of Limbo, I find the third option as an expert middleman, but know and will enforce lines we establish as a believer of comfortable spaces for all to have a good time. For me, this is a love language, as much as a part of my calling in life. I try my best to do voices, and improve upon the experience for folks in some way each time. I excel at tactical combat, and have been told my stories and descriptions stick with people until they play again. One of my players has told me that they get goosebumps all the time from my descriptions and I hope that rings true in our games, but I can’t promise anything more than I will try my best to make a fun, thoughtful, and engaging experience for everyone, long-winded backstories and all; because that’s what I’m here for.

Gameplay details

Before we play, we can discuss all the content warnings that we will or might have. There are likely to be some content warnings, so let's make sure we do this safely, without excess judgment, and with distinction in understanding that in the end, it is a game we should all enjoy with each other.

How will character creation work

I would like for people to use DnD Beyond for their Characters and I will be sharing content that I have purchased through the campaign's link so no one has to pay for that content. The link to the game will be shared via DM's when player's join the lobby. I start all games as RAW, Core Books (Player's Handbook, 'Everything' books, and the Monsters of the Multiverse book) with +1 source book of your choice if needed. Written out it sounds more rigid than it is, but it's worked out fairly nicely over several non-professional campaigns. This and more can be discussed as a smaller section of Session 0 to go over any table rules we all (you) might want to explore, and I have a few that have been used in the past to offer up. After this strong foundation of 'canon' lore, we can space apart from it. If I can then so can you! I am not opposed to homebrews for creation, classes, and the such, as long as they are within reason. Sometimes people make some overpowered things!
