About the adventure

You found out you're a werewolf, probably traumatically. Your old normal human life is gone. Now you're a "cub," a no-status omega wolf until you prove yourself in the eyes of werewolf society. If the elder werewolves are telling you the truth, there's a War on for the Earth's survival, and you werewolves are the warriors who are supposed to help win it. If you can only survive the Rite of Passage. Not everyone does... ***** This campaign will center a "rite of passage" in the frozen wilderness of Canada as it turns from a normal hard-to-survive ritual into a nightmare no one ever meant for new cubs to face. You will find yourselves in harsh survival conditions pitted against terrible foes with no clear route back home. The bad guys have set you up to die - but if you survive, there's a chance that you can stop their plot cold. Campaign will include heavy roleplaying, standard and cinematic combat, and creative thinking to solve the mystery in time. Welcoming both to first-time gamers and those who've played Werewolf before.

How to prepare

Before the first session, make sure you have an effective way to access the game. A working laptop with a camera and mic are ideal, though it's possible to join in by phone as well. We have cameras on almost always during sessions in my games. We're hoping to get to know each other and make friends with one another, and seeing faces is very helpful for that. Plus it helps us not to talk over one another! Join my Discord server as soon as you join the game! A lot of the experience of this campaign is there: you'll get to connect with other players and share inspiration, music playlists, and funny memes ahead of time, plus the games themselves run through Discord. Last, dice! I do allow online dice rollers, but if you're like me and prefer the real thing, bring at least 10 10-sided dice. 15-20 wouldn't hurt.

What I provide

I provide the game module and dozens of other sourcebooks for Werewolf: the Apocalypse that you can dive into if you wish, with plenty of guidance to create a character without a lot of time investment if you don't wish. I've updated the module (it was written in the 90s!) and fleshed out locations, NPCs, and subplots presented in it to create a more complete game world. This game uses custom maps and tokens on Owlbear Rodeo, a custom soundtrack on Spotify, and a lot of between-game and during-game coordination through Discord. Though we're using the crunchy Old World of Darkness system, I am a Rule of Cool GM who will wave aside the rules if they're interfering with telling the story. Games will sometimes be tactical and nearly always include character-driven plots and deep role-playing opportunities.

Gameplay details

This system and setting offer intense, deep roleplaying in a world parallel to but more horrifying than our own. The game centers teeth-and-claws violence against grotesque and objectively evil foes. Below you'll find a list of the sensitive topics that will naturally come up during the module as written. Many of these can be veiled (not discussed in detail). If something on this list is tricky territory for you, please feel free to message me to explore if it can be limited for your safety. I provide my conflict resolution skills and many years of professional group facilitation. When we do get into disagreements or step on one another's toes, I will help guide us to a graceful resolution so that everyone feels safe and heard before diving back into our story. How will character creation work

Session 0 will be an introduction to the World of Darkness, the specific campaign, and building characters. Late-joining players will begin with a customized, paid one-on-one session with me to catch you up and design a character you love before joining the game.
