About the adventure

Among the fractious peoples of the River Kingdoms, all hold to a fundamental freedom: "You Have What You Hold". And nobody has the Stolen Lands. Stubbornly untamed, its many ruins bear silent witness to all who failed to bring civilization to the land–lost to fog, treachery, banditry, and supernatural upheaval. Only the foolish, the desperate, and the ruthless venture into those wilds, lest they lose their way, their way of life, and their life. Perhaps, you are one of those things, or all of them. Because you have set foot on this stolen land, bearing a charter that grants you kingship in this land... if only you can tame this land to the yoke of your civilization. If you can bring justice to the bandit gangs and wild denizens and release their stranglehold on every road and every river... If your kingdom's court can hold to the tenets of your charter against those who cry out to be free from your rule... If you can keep you allies true and bring death to the oath breakers who would steal the crown from you... If you can raise and rally your army against abominable conquerors who would reduce your kingdom to slavery... And if, perhaps, you can discover the truth of why the land is stolen, and steel yourself for those who come back for what is rightfully theirs... Because, remember. You Have What You Hold.

About me

To you who join me at the table, welcome home! Through astronomy modeling to folklore research, amidst fraught years in game design school and software engineering, from comic stage plays to dramatic recitals... I've taken a twisting path to role-playing games. Each of these former roles has taught me invaluable lessons, which I bring to the table. Confidence in my ability to improvise character moments. A systematizing mind to design challenges that test characters to their limits. Technical aptitude to use virtual tabletops to their fullest. An instinct for tapping into characters' hidden motives and how they can elevate drama. And an abiding appreciation for the shared humanity that binds us all together. Let us weave new stories together, full of mirth and mischief, love and laughter, and no shortage of groan-inducing puns.

Character creation

Creating your character

Prior to your first session, create a character of level and wealth matching the party in your game's Foundry server. I recommend a premium account on Pathbuilder (https://pathbuilder2e.com/), which supports character creation using the table's variant rules and allow for easy import into Foundry via the Pathmuncher module (https://foundryvtt.com/packages/pathmuncher). For detailed character creation options and restrictions, refer to the "Homebrew Rules" section. For information about the current party composition and any third-party rules the table has agreed to use, see the "Recruitment Notes" section. You're also welcome to use the game's dedicated character creation channel on Discord to propose builds and coordinate with other players, or to use the GM as a resource for answering questions or importing characters into the game server.

What Saoirse, Veil Adept brings to the table

I run games on a richly customized Foundry server, complete with high automation, soundtracks, animations, and additional maps for minor scenes and improvisation. As a matter of standard preparation, I also create custom content that expands the party's engagement with core themes and caters to players' interests and characters' ambitions. The rich sandbox of Kingmaker provides players with many potential hooks on which to hang these custom adventures.

The party should be well-rounded in tackling these challenges, in addition to the usual rigors of adventuring. Third-Party Character Options: In addition to Paizo-published character options, the GM has access to a selection of third-party character options: ◆ Paizo playtest materials for upcoming source books ◆ Ancestries from Roll for Combat's Battlezoo line of third-party sourcebooks So long as there is unanimous agreement from all players to introduce this material, the GM will make it available upon request. Check the adventure's recruiting notes for information on which third-party materials, if any, the table is using.

Safety

How Saoirse, Veil Adept creates a safe table

In addition to action and adventure that abides by the Pathfinder Baseline guidelines set forth in GM Core, Kingmaker sees the player characters assume the role of ruling elites in a realm of their own making. Political activity, including state-sanctioned violence and colonization that may be distasteful to the sensibilities of liberal democratic societies, is an integral part of the adventure. Thus, it is especially important for players to fill out the consent safety checklist, accessible through preparation materials.
