About the adventure
Risk free first session and beginners are encouraged to join! All aboard and welcome to The Wildsea! Sail a chainsaw ship over the dangerous canopy covering all land in sight, gaze in awe as ravenous leviathans and spectral ships erupt from the undergrowth right when you least expect them. Eat, drink, and be merry with the other misfits who've abandoned the relative safety of community living to carve out a living atop the trees, blazing a trail that's soon to be covered in rampant verdant growth. The Wildsea is a world where nature has won and what's left of humanity makes their living on makeshift islands, spits, or atop the rare mountain summit that reaches through the dense foliage. This is a narrative focused game and character creation is what dreams are made of, if you're looking for a new game to try out that isn't a grimdark dungeon crawl this is for you. Will you be an Ektus, a large humanoid cactus, who is bound to the waves by long forgotten memories, all the while keeping their crewmates alive with needle, thread, and a tender hand? Or perhaps you feel the calling of an Ardent, what humanity forced to endure the wildsea became, born and raised in a spit-born community, paying your way as a Tempest, commanding lighting and calming the skies to the boon and bane of those nearby. Raise the anchor, crank up the chainsaw prow, and set sail for adventure atop a sea of green. [Game image used with explicit permission of the creator, Felix Issacs, and Mythwork Publishing]

About me
Former fire-breather turned therapeutic GM. Cool, now that I've got your attention. I'm Xan, if the Therapeutic GMing is what got your eye the check out my psychology today listing at the bottom! My numbers and accomplishments are cool, so I'll list them below. Here's who I am though. I'm a life-long storyteller and performer. The love the smell of honey suckles and the sound of a cat's purr. I'll give you a run for your money with a pun contest *any* day of the week, and I live by the motto "Manic enthusiasm is still enthusiasm". Games have brought me joy, relief, and catharsis over the years and I can say without hesitation that they, and the friends I've made through them, have been a huge positive impact on my life. So I'm here to pay that joy back and be the background tapestry for your happy memories and kickass stories. "Rule of Cool" always par for the course and expect me to be just as invested in your characters as you are. I love to flesh a game out through how your character sees the world, "you walk into the market and an unexpected scent brings you back home for a split second. What is it?". I prioritize safety and making sure that I'm making my game suited to the players, not the other way around. Feel free to reach out to me if you'd like to talk about booking a private game or consultation about your own game. I'd love to help you make your own time as a GM the most rewarding it can be. I'm also available if you are looking for guests or experts in the topics at the intersection of mental health and TTRPGs. And, the numbers! 20+ Featured Speaking events (PAX, Save Against Fear, Therapeutic and Applied Gaming Growth Summit) 9 Years professional GM 1 published adventure in Rock and Roll 5e (zine) 50+ homebrew materials for the larger games 4 Hacks written 1 original game developed 1 Full length game in development 33 years of being a total badass Therapeutic Skill building‽‽ With games (or just with a cool coach)‽‽ Yup! Full disclosure though, listings on Startplaying *are not* therapeutic sessions. Those require a different approach, intent, and structure. Creating your character
We'll have an open space to talk character concepts and thoughts before we start so that the crew can have room to work into each other's stories, and talk plans about our. At session zero we'll hammer out any last character changes and flesh out the ship and all the relationship crew questions. If you're hopping aboard after we first set sail, welcome! I'm happy to set up a time to walk you through character creation and you're welcome to talk with the others in the group to see if there is any history that y'all might share.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
You'll need a microphone, a way to view the game pdfs, and access to discord.
What Xan!!! brings to the table
I'll share all the docs that you'll need and help you with character creation if you'd like it. Expect cinematic adventures, a relaxed and lighthearted table, and cool folks to play a cool game with. Character voices will be frequent and the rule of cool is always in style. Collaborative storytelling is my favourite way to GM, and as a player you'll have a ton of impact on the story that I can't predict. Cheers to a wonderful story told together!
Homebrew rules
Rule of cool is the way of the world here, but I've also made some small tweaks to the "Watch Roll" table to help flavor encounters more than the original version.

How Xan!!! creates a safe table
We'll message you a copy of the Monte Cook checklist, with some extra items added for some specific things that might come up in the gameplay. At our session zero, or whenever a new crewmember is added we'll do a refresher on the tools we have in place. Each time we'll warm up and recap the last session before we start, and I'm always around post session if anyone needs to talk. Gameplay will be fast and loose, with an emphasis on giving every character a time to shine.
