Blight of Destiny: A Paths of the Damned campaign, WFRP 2e

Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay | Campaign

About the adventure

This game is a Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay 2nd ed campaign following the Paths of the Damned adventure series. It uses D100's. Characters are mostly randomly generated. It is a low-power system in the sense that you start out as relatively average folk, striving to survive in the brutal world of Warhammer the Old World. If played all the way through, by the end of the campaign, the player characters will have risen in power and renown to become legendary heroes in their own right. To get there you must survive the horrors of a world where evil lurks behind every shadow, ready to corrupt and consume the hearts of weak souls. Archaon has finally gained the blessings of all four gods of Chaos and claimed the title of Everchosen, Champion of Chaos Undivided. Gathering the largest horde ever seen, he smashed through Kislev with lightning speed and struck out straight for the second greatest city of the Empire of Man, Middenheim. His forces laid siege for nine long days before they were driven from the falls and forced to retreat in the face of an imperial relief column. The city of the White Wolf god, Ulric, has been saved. The price though, has been terrible, with whole regions abandoned and crops trampled under ahead of the fall harvest. Yet the forces of Chaos are not wholly defeated. Untold numbers of Beastmen roam the forests of the north, devouring now isolated and weakened communities. Meanwhile, Archaon's vast host scattered across the north is reconnecting and no doubt coalescing to prepare for a second strike. The player characters find themselves, previously normal folk of Middenland, scattered by the winds of war and seeking shelter amidst the ruins. They have come to the small town of Untergard located deep within the Drakwald Forest. The town seemingly survived the worst of the devastation by dint of it's isolation and preexisting fortification. However, new threats are on the rise, both from without, and within. Is Untergard truly safe or merely another brief shelter amidst the Storm of Chaos?

I've been having fun meeting new characters and blowing things up with magic. Encounters are fun and creative thinking is rewarded. Being able to step into the iron kingdoms on the ground level has been delightful.

She is an amazing GM, that listens to her players and works hard to give each of them a fun time around the table. Well worth your time and money to have her as your GM as she is always ready for each game and is ready for all the challenges that comes up.

Additional details

How to prepare

In order to play in this game you will need; * Stable highspeed internet access. * A working webcam. * A working microphone and speakers or headset. * A Discord account. My Discord ID is MsGoogly#7162 * A copy of Tabletop Simulator. It can be purchased on Steam for $20. * PDF reading software, such as Foxit or Adobe.

What I provide

I will provide pdfs of all of the source books as well as fillable character sheets. I will setup a discord server for the game once the minimum number of players have been recruited. Lastly, I will have prepared battle mats, stat trackers, and character icons, in Tabletop Simulator ready for each session. I generally don't do voices or utilize ambient music. We will be sticking closely to RaW, though, I do adjust it to allow greater flexibility during character creation. For games run from modules, I maintain a fast-paced style that keeps the game moving along to the next beat of the adventure.

Gameplay details

During session 0 I will go over some of the types of objectionable material to be found in this game. As this is a dark setting, expect blood, gore, violence, and prejudice between fantasy races and religions. If players find these themes triggering, we will discuss ways to limit their exposure without compromising the integrity of the story. As this is a module, I can predict exactly what will come up and preplan to censor it accordingly. The adventure is a trilogy of books. At the end of the completion of the first module, we will have a session devoted purely to discussing the adventure so far, and also potentially sensitive material present in the second module.

How will character creation work

All character creation will occur during the first session. As most things are randomly rolled in this system, it tends to go by quickly. In terms of mechanical decisions, the player really only chooses their race, where to place their stat rolls, and pick a career from the options rolled. All background decisions can be decided by the player or also rolled on the various charts, at their discretion. Players will refer to the Warhammer Fantasy Roleplaying Core Rulebook. Other source books may be used as well, for example, choosing alternate career options. I will provide access to all books through a Google drive folder. I will message you through StartPlaying with links once you have registered for the game.
