About the adventure

Game starts at 8pm EST I don't know why the listing says 7. This game is set in Drakkenheim, a magnificent gothic city destroyed by a comet 16 years ago. Drakkenheim is cloaked in a thick eldritch fog and riven with abominations. Valuable crystalized magic has been spread all over the dead city by the ejecta from the comet. 5 humanoid factions vie for control as adventurers scavenge for the arcane crystals, but the monsters of Drakkenheim will most likely rule unless a band of true heroes intervenes. Players who enjoy horror films and problem solving will have a great time in this game. We have a group of 4 players looking for 1 more. They are playing a sorcadin, sorcerer, an urban ranger, and an apothecary. Apothecary is a full caster class developed for the setting by the Dungeon Dudes of YouTube fame. There are a ton of setting specific player options if that interests you. We are just starting act 2 of the campaign proper with a dungeon crawl for 5th level player characters.

It would be great to have you visit for 2 or 3 games to see if you gel with our unique group.

How to prepare

Players will need a laptop or desktop computer in a room with a good internet connection and minimal background noise. A headset mic can be good but if your computer comes with an integrated voice receiver that is usually fine. A mobile phone or tablet is often useful as a secondary device, but will not function nicely with the VTT. The apps we will use are called Roll20 and Discord, so let me know right away if you have not used those before. We can discuss character creation once we get you up & running on the apps.

What I provide

I love to do voices. I am not very good at it, but I really love making an NPC memorable with the perfect voice acting. I have purchased the campaign module on Roll20 which gives us all the creatures and stats that we need. The module comes with some beautiful art and maps. I spend a lot of time scouring the internet for additional art and maps to really make the virtual table top pleasing to look at. We run a lot of combat but I try to make it accessible and not overly tactical for everyone. I would describe my alignment as a DM as a lawful good, so I allow some rule of cool but I don't rely on it excessively.

Gameplay details

I have a slide for lines and veils on the virtual table top. In my experience, all of my players have been comfortable with the type & amount of fantasy violence & conflict in my campaigns. In session 0 I go over house rules, personal goals, character creation, the various software & apps that we use, and the campaign setting & expectations. I prefer XNOs to be texted to me on discord.

How will character creation work

Character creation should be completed with me in a proper session zero. 2024 rules are available on a case by case basis. Stat, feat, gear, and general starting perks, are PHB standard, with some exceptions to account for leveling and cool RP ideas.
