About the adventure

Demons plague the land and villagers and merchants are left at their mercy if no one stands up to fight against the threat! The last 2 weeks, merchants that were supposed to deliver new goods to the town have disappeared! Sightings of goblins have made the citizens feel unsafe, though they never come this close to town. Why are they starting to act out of line and are they responsible for the lost merchants? Or are the many demons that scour and ravage the land responsible for this tragedy? Maybe you can be the hero that the townsfolk are waiting for! Are you a newer player and wish to have a go at DnD? Then join this beginner friendly one shot! I want to share the amazing experience that is playing DnD, from battling monsters to solving mysteries while helping out the local farmers and becoming a hero! I love to GM for beginners and give my players the best possible DnD experience that they can get. So if you wish to join a dark fantasy world full of mystery and violence and figure out, who the real bad guys are, then don't hesitate and join this one shot now! I typically run sandbox type games, which means i drop you off into my world, and you can run around and do whatever you want! You're actions majorly influence how the game will go and every action has a consequence! I try to have a focus on roleplay, since it's for me, the most appealing part of DnD, but i also include story relevant combats and encounters which drive the story forward. Everything is organic and as i stated before, what happens in the session is up to the decisions my players make. I bend the rules in ways that allow for the most fun and organic gameplay. Though i try my best to follow the rules, the only one i always follow is the rule of cool! So feel free to do awesome stuff!

About me

I am a passionate storyteller and world builder. As a full time illustrator i have dedicated most of my time curating and creating my own homebrew world for the last 3 years! All with original illustrations of monsters, magic items, NPCs amd places. But i was just stuck with sharing this content with my friends. The epic stories i was able to tell with them, inspired me to open up my world for more players to engage in! Storytelling is at the forefront. I hope to create a story with each session i run, and hope to make each session a long lasting memory.

Character creation

Creating your character

We will do character creation at the beginning of the session, so i can teach everyone how the basics work. You don't require any knowledge beforehand, I will teach everything. If you are already familiar with character creation, and maybe you already have a character, then great! You can of course use any characters that you have built yourselves, as long as they have been created with official DnD licensed content. For those who wish to pre make a character, you can make a lvl 3 character!

What to expect

Preparing for the session

What I expect of my players: - a functioning mic that has decent quality - a camera (for better roleplay) - discord - roll20.net account - dndbeyond.com account - beyond20 browser extension What i would really like, especially since its going to be digital, is a microphone that has at least a decent quality. No permanent noise or feedback, no crunching or heavy distortion sounds. A microphone that allows everyone to understand you comfortably. Otherwise it will ruin the whole experience. I have done it before with players who didnt have the proper hardware and its painful to play because nobody can understand what they're trying to say. Next thing thats important is a camera. Dnd is a social game, and we will be involved in some heavy roleplay so its very important for me to actually see how my players react. This allows for far greater immersion so its important for me to have a working camera. It doesn't have to be high wuality. Something that allows us to see and recognize your face will be more than enough! Lastly, it would be good to have an account for both roll20.net and dndbeyond.com You will also have to i stall beyond20 which is a browser extension, but i will do that with you during character creation. It is very easy, nothing to worry about, literally only takes one click to install.

What JackLac brings to the table

I put in a lot of effort to create the best experience for my players as possible. Joining my oneshot what you will get and what you can expect is, first and foremost you will be granted access to my dndbeyond campaign. For those who dont know, its a character creator website where one can buy official dnd content to create your characters. I have bought almost all sourcebooks, and being part of my campaign will grant you access to all the content i have on dndbeyond, so you can go wild on character creation! But whats even more important is, the atmosphere that i wish to create. I utilize roll20, which is a virtual tapletop (vtt for short) that allows me to play live music and ambience so you can fully immerse yourself in the game. I use professional looking battle maps which i have also curated over the past 4 years. And, last but not least, i am a professional illustrator, which means i have the luxury to create my own monsters, NPCs, magic items and maps that you can all see and discover while playing my game! Everything originally created, no AI! And to fully round things off, and which is important for me as the oneshot shall be focused on roleplay, i do character voices so you get the right feeling while interacting with the people of this different world. Acting is part of it, emotional breakdowns, angry bellowing screams or passionate monologues. Everything i can do to make the experience as captivating for my players as possible!

Safety

How JackLac creates a safe table

We will have a proper talk before the session starts, to go over what everyone is comfortable or not comfortable with. My world is pretty dark and a lot of violence and brutality is to be expected, so i want to make sure, that all of my players are ok with what can be expected. Fun is the most important part of playing DnD, so to ensure that, these discussions are very important to me! If there is content that is triggering, I will of course exclude it from the one shot. I wish for my players to know that they are in safe hands!
