The Invisible Fortress
Exalted 2nd Edition | Campaign
About the adventure
The Invisible Fortress is a Horror campaign for 4-5 players. Heroes of old have been reborn into a world that no longer recognizes them for what they are. They are hunted and despised by many, but few know these heroes were once mighty warriors who wrestled the world from its would be oppressors and heralded an age of dreams that lasted five thousand years. Our heroes begin in the Merchant city of Nexus where they have been hearing tales of wonderous magical artifacts being discovered in the remote reaches of the north. The group has already done several jobs for a merchant prince called Jade who has had them "recovering" some of these items from merchants in the city and believes them to be part of a larger haul. More troubling is the dreams everyone has been having. they come at all hours, glimpses into lives not their own, and yet familiar at the same time. the dreams seem to all point to the same place; a forgotten palace filled with luxuries beyond imagining. the dreams are almost all pleasant, except for the occasional moments where it feels as if the walls are closing in and there is no escape... will our heroes find the palace in their dreams, or will they fall from the harsh cold of the northern winter as they search for lost treasures? Given that this is a horror campaign I feel the need to point out there will be several instances of Adult Content and explicit scenes of brutal violence. There are moments where dark elements are explored, including taboo subjects like cannibalism and other less savory subjects. these elements will be explored with tact and a healthy respect for boundaries, in session 0 we will cover what these subjects may include as well discuss what kinds of behaviors will be expected when dealing with them. I plan to run this game on Roll20 where I have been busy adding handouts to ease the need of the books while playing. I have also found character sheets that have many of the rules referenced! Exalted 2e is a system that takes some getting used to, and so I plan to introduce more confusing rules in a slow but narratively satisfying pace. Players may wish to read through the Exalted 2e core book to familiarize themselves with some of the abilities, but it will not be necessary. This game is meant for players of any level, from newbies looking to try a TTRPG for the first time, to veteran players looking to try a new system. The only requirements are you must be 18+, you must be welcoming and courteous to your fellow players. I look forward to meeting you and Playing!
This is an adventure for new and experienced players alike! you need not know anything about the system to play, though some passing familiarity with the setting is suggested. The "Dawn Caste," the usual warriors of the Solar Exalted, will be un-available, HOWEVER, that does not mean you will be unable to play a battle master or martial arts based character. The way the game works you can truly be anything, but the narrative does not have room for a Dawn Caste.

Beginners or e spent Lrsly can hang with them all, he was very paicent, I was new to exalted and getting back in to gameing, he was willing to do a lot of hand holding. But was willing to get in to the paint with creative concepts and rules. It was so much fun my circle rejoined him for an Infernal exalted game. One of the best GM’s I ever had and worth the money, for the planing, the resources and advice.
He managed to make an exciting game that didn't make me feel like I had to create some super optimal killing machine in order to manage. If anything, I felt like I wasn't living up to the potential I could go with, and I'm more than happy to move over to his group game to pick up the plot where I left off.
I've played in several games with Lesley now and he always creates a richly detailed and exciting world. He goes to great lengths to prepare for each session and does tons of background reading, both of the game's books and of other inspirational works (like real life history). I enthusiastically recommend Lesley as a GM, and have had a great deal of fun in every game we've played!
Lesley puts a LOT of in depth work into the prep for sessions and games, knows the worlds he guids his players through and is deeply passionate about Dming. Hey plays with the players, not against them but still inflicts consecuenses for actions. 10/10 would kill a loved one again, convinced it is a double.
Lesley has been a GM for well over a decade and a player for about 2 decades and it shows. His wealth of knowledge is insane. You'd think he was the keeper of all things World of Darkness/Exalted given the amount of long conversations/rants we've gone on about the two worlds. He knows a lot about other games outside of the old White Wolf IP's as well. This is useful for his story/game building. For about 4-5 months now I've been a player in several of his games (Vampire 20th Ann. Mage 20th Ann, Exalted 2nd) and it's clear to me the guy can run a vast variety of game types and does it well. Hell if it wasn't for meeting him in another Roll20 game I'd never have learned of Exalted or known all the things I do now for World of Darkness games (more specifically Mage and Vampire with sprinklings of everything else) Dungeon crawling, exploration, political/social intrigue, a mix and match of all and more, the guy is prolific for sure. Not to mention he, for the most part, is fair to his players and doesn't exclude anybody from having a moment, gaining something, or feeling like they won't get a time to shine. His games as far as I've seen are incredibly balanced and he has been pretty adaptable to his players' choices and ideas. So far nothing he's thrown at us seems unfair or too punishing. That being said, it's not like you're playing creative mode Minecraft where nothing can touch you. If nothing is touching you your dice rolls are really good and your character's abilities along with how you've built them through the game will just make you feel godly for dealing with whatever challenge he throws at you. Besides, everybody knows the secret word for getting your DM to crush your party's morale. "This is too easy". Creativity and player agency is as important to him as it is too you. If you are struggling with a concept he's great for helping you flesh it out. He is very helpful in making that character work in your favour mechanically without sacrificing your agency in how the character is built. If anything he can build upon those ideas with you getting you amped up for what you're bringing to the table. He's always willing to listen if somebody is having a problem with how things are going game wise/character wise or what have you, and even if there is a constant issue he has incredible patience and is willing to talk it out. So don't be afraid to talk to him, just be polite and respectful and he'll show you the same courtesy. I'm not used to writing reviews for anything so I don't know if that helps anybody reading this and there is definitely more to his style, but I will end it off by saying it's a crime that I can only pick 3 tags to describe the guy. He excels at some more then others but the dude is well rounded in my opinion and pretty chill. You'll have fun playing some of his games for sure. Not to mention he's noob friendly to both new players and new DM's. Play his games people! It's worth it.
Additional details
How to prepare
Players will need a microphone, a discord account, and a roll20 account. I use discord for voice and Roll20 for maps and rolling dice. The character sheets in Roll20 are Hot Garbage however so i will be providing a PDF that has an amazing set of rules references built into it.
What I provide
I will provide a game and several character handouts in roll20!
Gameplay details
I plan to do a session 0 to go over what to expect from the sea of content warnings. During Session 0 we will discuss some boundaries i have, as well as anything the players would like in place. I know of several things people may not care for that come up in the story so i would like to get some handrails as it were so nobody feels uncomfortable (well any more than they agree to). I am a big fan of addressing things immediately, so if there is a situation where you feel uncomfortable, and not in a fun way, i would very much like you to speak up so we can take a break and talk about it. Lets be kind, respectful, and have fun!

How will character creation work
I will walk players through character creation during our first session, the process is rather easy but does require a bit of reading. I have walked several players through this process in the past, its relatively easy but may take a few hours for a group to complete them. If character creation sounds like it will be too much for anyone I will be more than happy to help new players by making a character for them, while walking them through the process. in many respects i find making Exalted characters to be easier than making D&D characters, though there are a few areas where it is a tad more difficult, but never fear! the hardest parts make for some of the best aspects of exalted so the struggle is well rewarded!
