About the adventure
It is the slowest poison that is the most potent. ~Old Vistani Proverb The dead call out for release. Each night, the fallen adversaries of the demon Strahd march to the castle in a ghostly parade. Their lamentations fill the midnight hour, plaguing the land and filling all witnesses with dread. It is an endless parade of suffering that has tormented Barovia for ages. Now, someone has had enough. Through a blind Vistani reader, your party has been gathered together to end Strahd and free the souls bound to Barovia. With the help of some ancient magic and luck, you will cross into the lands through the mists, build your strength, and strike a blow to the dark lord that imprisons all who live there. Will you succeed in ending the demon that plagues these lands, or will you join the endless nightly procession of the damned?
Meet the Game Master
About me
I started playing RPGs when my older brother invited me to join their D&D group in the early 80s. I introduced my friends to the game and became the forever DM - a mantle I've enjoyed for many years. I have run games D&D, DnD, Shadowrun, Tales from the Loop, Monster of the Week, Paranoia, Toon, Deadlands, Earthdawn, and many more. Since 2016, I've run most of my games through Roll20. I am an old-school gamer who runs games in a player-friendly space, with a play style focused more on the stories we can create than arguing over 'rules as written'.

Creating your character
I would like to have players set up their characters during session zero. This helps the group decide on what they want to play and form bonds before we even begin.
Someone wants Strahd dead, and the spirits have chosen you to do it. Recruited by a strange Vistani reader, you are tasked with destroying the dark lord who keeps the tortured spirits trapped behind the mists of Barovia.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
No cam is needed; a mic and headset are preferred (to help prevent feedback and echoing). We will send you invites to both the Roll20 and Discord channels. A basic understanding of DnD 5e is good, but we welcome you if you are new to the system. We will help in any way we can.
What C Wilson brings to the table
Roll20 for characters and VTT, and Discord for vocals. Some custom maps/tokens/side adventures in Barovia. I prefer RP over RAW and expect ambient music and character voices. I run a friendly space (LBGTQ+, BIPOC, Safety Cards enforced). We are all here to play a game and have fun.

How C Wilson creates a safe table
Safety tools include Lines and Veils so you can guide me in telling the story. During gameplay, we will have breaks during the session and use X, N, and O to help if we venture into an area that makes you feel uncomfortable. We will have session 0 for character set-up and introducing your character. I like running combat quickly but sometimes I will get caught up in the fun and expound with descriptive commentary during combat. As you might know, death can come swiftly in Barovia. How will we handle character death? It will depend on the player and where your character shuffled off the mortal coil. There are always "deals" that can be made, but if your death is either amazing or tragic narratively, we might play it as permanent. I mean, who doesn't have fun rolling up new characters?
