About the adventure

You and your fellow players are members of the Human Interplanetary Vessel Schadenfreude’s elite the 404th Mobile Laundry Unit (MLU) ‘Red Shirts in the Whites’. The HIV Schadenfreude is currently in orbit around the planet Sneezelax, and somewhere on the planet below, the captain has soiled his uniform and needs your help. You and your away team will be beamed to the surface where you will meet with Captain Hank Hadron and his two first officers Commander Schlub, and Chief Medical Officer Dr. Hugo “Hack” Hackenbush to provide emergency laundering services. Sneezelax is a heretofore uncharted Savage World fraught with untold peril, should you or any of your team perish the Schadenfreude will beam down a replacement. Good luck, Red Shirts! Capitalizing on the Savage Worlds’ FAST, FURIOUS, and FUN mantra, players will take on the roles of hapless red shirts beamed down to a deadly planet’s surface on a mission of asinine proportions. This game will put heavy emphasis on roleplaying because each of the 50+ members of the 404th MLU has crippling personality flaws that will cause tension and stand to hinder the mission or hamper other team-members. PCs will die frequently and in amusing fashions, but that’s okay because the engineering crew of the HIV Schadenfreude are ready to beam down a replacement at a moment’s notice. At the beginning of the mission and after each character’s death, players will randomly pull a new crew member out of a hat and assume the quirky personality noted in their description. Personality quirks might range anywhere from extreme Tourette Syndrome with Generalised Anxiety disorder to having 12 teddy bears that the character insists are her children. One way or another, this rag-tag troupe is going to clean and air the Captain’s dirty laundry!

How to prepare

In order to join, players will need the FREE demo copy of Fantasy Grounds installed on their device (which entails setting up an equally free FG account). Voice will be handled over Discord. The GM holds the Ultimate License for Fantasy Grounds which permits free play for players with the demo software. Webcams are not necessary. A working microphone is necessary to join.

What I provide

While some of the content of this campaign is guaranteed to be base, odious, and uncouth, players are expected to approach the game session with the mindset that everything is in good fun. This game was written to be Classic Star Trek meets Cards Against Humanity. Otherwise socially unacceptable scenarios and characters are brought to the fore in the interest play. Everything is meant to be for the sake of fun. Outright cruelty to other players or vulgar statements that are clearly not made in jest will not be tolerated. This campaign was meticulously designed to be darkly humourous, not cruel. As a rule of thumb, be funny, not mean. Since this is a no-holds barred, rapid role play, one shot, race to the death, the GM is quite open to consensual player on player violence, and will be actively working to kill off characters whenever he (or anyone else) gets bored of them.

Gameplay details

CONTENT WARNING: "Captain, I See Something!" is a NSFL rapid-fire roll playing experience filled the excruciating and graphic deaths of hapless expendable crewmen. Each character in the game's roster is a horrifically broken or disturbed individual that would be best served by a visit to their local medical doctor, psychologist, or in at least one case, exorcist. This game is meant to give players a chance to let loose and embrace political incorrectness for the sake of entertainment and humour. Sensibilities will be offended. Toes will be stepped on. Otherwise incredibly serious matters will be taken lightly. This is meant to be in the interest of good old-fashioned misanthropic fun. The overall tone is meant to mirror that of adult animation such as South Park, Family Guy, Rick & Morty, etc. If you are someone that offends easily, is bereft of humour, or always takes certain social causes seriously, this game may not be for you. That said, in no way does the GM/Writer of this work condone the actions, attitudes, or viewpoints of the characters therein. They are all horrible human beings, but it's not their fault that they were written that way. If it is any consolation, they're beaming down to a death world in Red Shirts. They'll all be dead soon enough. If at any point you should find that one of these poor, deranged individuals remotely reminds you of yourself, the GM encourages you to seek professional help immediately. This message will likely be reiterated before each game session.

How will character creation work

This one-shot campaign hosts a roster of 50+ pre-generated characters that are assigned randomly to players. These characters are meant to die in quick succession. Upon character death, players will be randomly assigned a new, more alive character.
