About the adventure
Uxota, A world ravaged by the tides of the past and left to wallow in the ruins of such events. As time flowed on and those left in the wake did their best, the world grew and was reborn anew in the sky. Floating above the remnants of the Old World, 4 large continents are host to the races that survived the calamity that forced the world to take to the sky around 1800 years ago. The New World is the title that those living here have given their new home. From the mountainous deserts of the island of Sundret to the crystal-filled Riverlands of Mystlo-vea, the New World is filled with different sights and unexplored lands brought up from times past. Even the Material plane itself has different mystical occurrences that affect those living on Uxo-terra, but life for those living in the New World has been peaceful... until recently. The Comet City of Zaratan is where our story begins, with the gangs of the sky-bound city surging in activity, the officials tightening their grip over the secluded Comet and a mysterious relic gaining a dangerous amount of attention. Will a small set of unique individuals be able to uncover the secrets that creep around this City, or will forces unbeknownst to mortals soon claim these secrets for themself? -------------------- This will be a beginner-friendly D&D 5e Homebrew campaign set in the world of Uxo-terra (or Uxota). Starting at level 1, with a session 0 to get players into their own stead with both their characters and world. Much of the world of Uxota is untamed, but this campaign will start off in one of the Comet Cities of Uxota, an enclosed and moving floating city that acts as both a home for some and transportation for others. The Comet City of Zaratan is both the largest and oldest of the Comets, housing within its own history and structure often separate from the rest of Uxota. While normally safe, the events of this campaign may change this...

About me
Hello, one and all! I'm what many would call an enigma based on description alone. I grew up with sports and nothing close to nerd culture, then high school hit me with theatre classes, drama classes, nerd culture, anime, and of course, tabletop games! From there, I shed my class clown sports kid demeanor for an aptitude and love for everything listed above! It's been years since then, but I quickly fell into a type of comfort I haven't been willing to let go of! From world-building, homebrew creations, storytelling, writing, and interacting with others in these worlds. I've been a player in many different tabletop roleplaying games, and I've been DM'ing D&D 5e for cutting close to a decade now. Thanks to the support, advice, and assistance of those in my life, I've decided to take the plunge into DM'ing on Startplaying! My Dm style is closer to a mix of improv, and strategy and geared towards employing a story with all those involved. Most of my history with anything tabletop has been homebrew content, with my latest foray being for a homebrew world I've been working on for about... 5 years? It's had some reboots, but it's my little passion project that's stayed strong with me all these years! As for the types of players I've had before, well this is where I've had most of my enjoyment! I've been lucky enough to be some people's first intro into the hobby, letting them experience wonders and joy from being the person they want to be without fear of judgment in a space they can feel comfortable in. I've also had chances to run with people who played D&D back when it first came out in 1974 (Which, mind you, they have been some of the craziest and most enjoyable people I've had the pleasure of playing with). I've always seen Tabletop Roleplaying games as a way for people to get a chance to enjoy themselves in whatever weird or quirky way they can. Something that can be enjoyed by all ages, races, identities, and people from many different walks of life! If the stars align, I may even get the chance to be your introduction to the hobby or your gateway to jumping back into it!

Creating your character
Character creation will happen once you join the campaign, but feel free to have ideas brewing in your head from now! Just like the real world, Uxota is a place with people from many different walks of life, and as such, people can be as vast and colorful, or as melancholic and pale as you want them to be! The Campaign starts at level 1, with session 0 going over how the party meets as well as a small intro to the world Uxota and the Comet System. Prior to session 0, you'll be invited to my Discord channel where I'll help you with character creation and any questions (or concerns) you may have about the process.
- Session 0 will be free - The Sessions will be held every Monday afternoon starting Feb 26th at 3 PM EST with the last week being taken off each month. For new players, the DM will cover character creation, character backstory and fitting into the world, and a small intro to the world of Uxota over a discord call before their first session. (PS. I'm a manager at an arcade which surprisingly doesn't offer me much free time on work days for calls, but I'll make sure that the call happens somehow if you are interested.) Current Level?: 1 Class restrictions: None Race restrictions: Elf (due to Lore) Homebrew?: Allowed with permission from the DM
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Access to the internet, Discord, and a mic is a must! A webcam is a personal preference if you wish to use it (I currently don't have one, but may get one soon). Other than that all rolls will be done via Foundry VTT (or Discord prior to session 0) and luckily, Foundry VTT can be accessed by players via a web browser (Chrome recommended) so no application will need to be purchased prior to the sessions. Lastly, I do have a set of rules for the table that all people (DM included) should follow. I and my prior players see them as fair, but if you have any issues with them, feel free to message me and we'll see how we can adjust or tweak things so you can have a good time at the table with others! The Rules aren't anything extreme and will always be available for reference in Discord. (I tried to copy them here but the word limit has always been my mortal enemy, and as such denied me such a blessing)
What Joshua (or Xenix) brings to the table
I have most of the D&D 5e player books ported over to Foundry VTT for any character creation needs, as well as my own homebrew content, ranging from extra tool usage to races and classes, but of course, none of this is mandatory.

How Joshua (or Xenix) creates a safe table
Players can expect sessions that spend time prioritizing roleplay scenarios as well as engaging combats. Nearly all rolls will be done out in the open and there will be no fudging, which can sometimes (though exceedingly infrequently in my experience) result in character death. If a PC dies, we will work together to find a way to integrate a new character into the story and to allow you to participate in the rest of the session. In all my time DM'ing, I've had 2 PC die before, and both situations happened when the players were okay and ready for their characters to pass on or retire. Combat/Tactics Levels are medium but may come close to high towards the later half of the campaign. I do tend to make combats with open-ended solutions, so hitting things harder than the opposing side may not always lead to "winning" the encounter. Intelligent, evil enemies will behave intelligently and evilly, but less intelligent or less evil enemies will also behave accordingly. Roleplay is high because I tend to run games where the "world" will interact with you more than I, the DM will. I will never expect a player to engage with roleplay more than they are comfortable, but I will always provide scenarios where you can get into your character's head. I do not expect you to be in character throughout the entire session and don't expect you to have a character voice (or to even speak in the first person when you're in character!), but I would love to see and hear it if you're comfortable. As long as you are willing to engage and play nice, that's enough. Puzzles are low, mainly due to my brain thinking very differently towards most puzzles people see hard and vice versa. Puzzles will be present but they will be spread out pretty thin throughout the world, but fret not! Even if you run into a puzzle, chances are that the answers will be easy enough to either luck out or (my favourite option) brute force it! I will distribute a Consent Checklist before Session 0 that will allow you to go in-depth about what you are comfortable with in the game; this form will be over Google Forms and completely anonymous. I have already listed a very exhaustive list of possibly triggering scenarios, but many of them are unlikely to happen (though technically possible or things that may be interpreted as such). I fully intend to rework the adventure around anything a player is uncomfortable engaging with.
