About the adventure
The adventure begins in Elturel, graced by the light of the Companion, a gift that many believe is a manifestation of Lathander's blessing. "Veil of Twilight: A Celestial Mystery" invites you to a city where the divine light is waning and shadows encroach upon the sacred. Amidst the renowned Daybreak Festival dedicated to Lathander, you find the festivities clouded by an inexplicable gloom. Erevan Lightbringer, the High-Priest at Lathander's grand temple, urgently seeks help. The people fear the Morninglord's favor has dimmed, with celestial omens heralding an unknown doom. The temple, usually awash with the Morninglord's radiance, flickers with uncertainty. Erevan Lightbringer, with eyes reflecting the temple's golden glow, implores you to investigate the cause of the Companion's dimming light. Tasked with unraveling this celestial mystery, you must navigate a path fraught with cryptic prophecies and a palpable sense of dread. What forces conspire to cast such a shadow over Elturel? Can you restore the light of Lathander, or will twilight prevail?

About me
My name is Valentin, and I play dnd mostly as a player, but I occasionally DM'ed some one shots. My friends ( DMs ) encouraged me to DM and I have lots of ideas written for campaigns. I enjoy player creativity and any DM / player that enables player creativity for other players at the table ( this could be helping their build shine, or shine even more, to making them stand out in discovery / rp scenarios ). Enabling a player's character concept leads to a lot of fun, and you can do that as a DM, but also as a palyer!

Creating your character
Character Creation Process: Our heroes will begin their journey at level 5, poised to face the challenges ahead with experience and prowess. Stat Generation: Players will roll for stats in a communal pool during Session Zero. Once all players have rolled, the group will decide on a single array of stats generated from these rolls. This array will become the standard for all characters, ensuring parity and a sense of collective fate. Starting Equipment: Characters may choose their starting equipment based on the class and background or opt to roll for gold to purchase their gear. Additionally, I will provide a curated list of extra starting items to choose from, enhancing your character’s readiness and personal story. Content Sources: All official D&D content is permitted for character creation. Material from Critical Role, Grim Hollow, and Drakenheim is also allowed, with certain limitations to fit our campaign world—particularly, Drakenheim’s “delirium” mechanic will be excluded. Homebrew or third-party content is welcome but will require my approval to ensure balance and cohesion within the game’s universe. Session Zero is not just about rolling dice and crafting characters; it’s about establishing connections and setting the stage for the grand narrative we will build together. So come prepared to dive into the essence of your characters and the beginnings of their legend.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
A reliable internet connection, and a microphone are necessary for full participation. Players are encouraged to come with open minds and a readiness for unexpected twists. Pre-game, please read through the basic rules of D&D 5e ( as well as the mechanics of your character ) and contemplate the type of character you wish to explore in a world of enigmas and hidden truths.
What Valentin brings to the table
I bring to the table a fully integrated D&D Beyond experience, ensuring all players have access to the content they need. Our adventures will unfold on Roll20, enhanced by the Beyond20 browser extension for a seamless gameplay experience, and I’m here to guide you through either setup. Ambient music and soundscapes will be delivered through a Discord bot to enrich our sessions with an immersive audio backdrop. Expect a dynamic range of encounters in our campaign. Combat will vary from challenging tactical battles that test your mettle to encounters where diplomacy and strategy can avert the clash of swords. Puzzles will require keen insight, and not every problem has a singular solution. Social interactions will reflect the complexity of the world we’re in – characters within the game will have their own motivations and dispositions, from the obstinate to the cooperative, shaping a narrative that feels alive and reactive to your choices. I value the Rule of Cool, but I also respect the Rules as Written, striking a balance that allows for heroic feats while maintaining a consistent and fair world. Prepare for a campaign where your decisions have weight, and your character’s story is part of a grander tale.
