About the adventure
The skies are dark, the oceans black and lifeless, and the streets? Also dark. This is Doskvol, the jewel of Akoros with a rotten underbelly and a lust for blood. And if you want to survive here you’ll need to be the best of the worst or lose it all; rival gangs, vengeful ghosts, corrupt Bluecoats, everybody wants what someone else has. It’s a tough life, but as they say; no risk, no reward. 🗡️DARE to be a scoundrel on the crime-ridden streets of Doskvol, risking life, limb, and sanity for the chance to be somebody before you join the countless ghosts haunting the city. 🕯️PLAY as your favorite type of scoundrel, and switch anytime you want. Sometimes crew members need a vacation and the temp criminals get a chance to step in. 📗CHOOSE your characters; where they're from, how they handle the stress of criminal life, who their friends are, and which cool crime powers they have. Blades in the Dark is a game that shoves players headfirst into a world where the corrupt and the supernatural walk hand-in-hand and everybody has blood on their hands. As members of a crew of daring scoundrels, your goal is to claim your own piece of the city however you can and hold it against the rest of the city as they try to rip it from your hands. It won’t be easy, because nothing ever is in Doskvol, and you'll need to be cunning, resourceful, and ruthless to survive.

Meet the Game Master
About me
Hello! My name is Mike, and I've been a DM/GM for over 20 years. My illustrious game-mastering career began in middle school when I was tricked into running D&D 3.5 for my friends, thus sealing my own fate. I try to make sure all my players have fun and get a chance to do wild and crazy things in my games, whether it's becoming TV stars, magic cattle rustling, or transforming an ordinary tunneling machine into an abomination borne of metal and flesh powered by the sliver of a nascent god. I'm always looking to try new games, especially if they sound weird and niche.

Creating your character
Premade characters will be available on Roll20, as well as a crew sheet that can be accessed beforehand. Beginning characters will start as normal, but any later joins will be given advances that keep them equal with the crew once they get a few levels under their belts.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Players will need a Discord and Roll20 account (both free), a mic, and headphones. If you aren't familiar with Blades in the Dark, the basic rules can be reviewed here for free: https://bladesinthedark.com
What Mike brings to the table
I will bring spooky vibes, several questionable character voices and accents, ambient music and maps for Roll20, and a general love of running improv-heavy games.

How Mike creates a safe table
Blades in the Dark touches on some fairly dark subjects in the course of normal play, so establishing everyone's comfort level with the subject matter is key. Lines and veils will be in place, as well as the X-card through Roll20's private chat, and the game will be completely open-door if anyone needs to step away. My goal is always to make sure my players are having fun first and foremost, and safety tools are an important first step in that.
